Well I guess it would be useful to have one 2.5" enclosure with USB-C instead of the usual Micro-USB 3.0 port.

Amazon product page title: "....USB 3.1...." Scroll down a bit to About this item: "....Built-in USB 3.0 SATA chip...." So if you're looking for peak performance, maybe look elsewhere.

Yeah good point. But for $5 bucks, I think I can forgo peak performance for the usb standard.

SATA SSDs usually cap around 550MBps, which is under the theoretical max of USB 3.0 (5Gbps = 625 MBps), so what would be the issue?

SATAIII maxes out at 6Gbps while even the slowest USB 3.0 spec is 5Gbps (USB 3.1 Gen 2 is double at 10Gbps). You'll maybe lose ~20% peak performance if you put in a max specc'ed SATAIII SSD in the enclosure. Difference is irrelevant if you use an HDD since no 2.5" HDD even comes close to SATA 2 (3Gbps) max speeds.

Showing $7.99 for me for both colors. White has a 10% coupon but not enough to bring price down to 5.99.

The cable in product page isn't USB-C. Instead, it is the usual Micro-USB 3.0 cable.

The original deal for the USB-C enclosure is dead and product listing is completely gone from Amazon. If I click the link to my ordered item it only goes to the OP link which only has the Micro-USB enclosures

thought I'd share my experience with Orico here, I have 6 various different flavors of Orico enclosures. Some M2, some 2.5 and all are top notch in my book! No compatibility issues yet with any of them. All were bought from SD links under $10 too. My favorites are the clear ones so i can see what drives are in them. Great enclosures!

There are a bunch for less than $5 even after coupons and with usb-c to usb-c as well...just look around. I was pretty surprised these are so cheap now.
