$15/tb was the sweet spot. Haven't seen any shuckable (easystore) deals from bestbuy in the sub 15/tb in a while

Hopefully all the people "just go to serverpartdeal and blah blah..." dont chime in.

$274.99 per unit for those without a calculator. I just bought a 16TB Red Pro with a 10% off coupon for $288 (before tax). Decent deal if you need two!

I did manage to pull 2 of the drive logs off before sending them in (I didn't for the first one because I didn't think to do it). Maybe it means more to you than to me. But my point is, I found it odd that only the 18Tb drives in the Syno array had issues.
Kinda looks like each drive needed to be long initialized. Still getting them replaced is nice.

I have 31136 hours no udma_crc_error count, no relocated sectors, no raw read error rate, for wdc wd130emfz drives. Other ones are wd140edgz 19792 hours on those.

I saw this thread and thought to myself " I should suggest buying used Enterprise drives just so we can have six more pages of arguing whether or not they are reliable. '. 😂

Are you maybe remembering the deal on the 26th of November for $200 Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB drives at B&H Photo? That worked out to $12.50/TB before tax. https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/893620
It was the Amazon prime deal someone posted above you.

Any recommendations for just home backup like 2tb or 4tb ?
Unfortunately... "it depends". Do you have a lot of photos, music, or videos? I would call 4 TB a minimum nowadays, given how cheap the drives are.

You should always get two of the same size and put them in a NAS, which is what these Red drives are intended for. Remember that a NAS is not completely safe: two drives protects you from an internal drive failure, but won't protect against something worse like a surge or fire. If it is something important, you will want a separate off-site (e.g. cloud) backup.

Fwiw my Capital One Quicksilver had a 7% cash back offer for WD store (basically paid my tax on this)
I'll check that. If Quicksilver still has 7% today, can you combine it with another cash back site or is it one or the other?

AFAIK, Quicksilver offers are not the type you activate (like at Amex) and you get cash if you use your CC at the merchant. I think Quicksilver only gives you cash if you use their portal, and I assume that eliminates using another cash back portal?

In case anyone was wondering, i got 2 for $500 around May 2023. During Amazon Prime day, this has went down to $240 for one. B&H also had that same deal. I believe that is the cheapest I have ever seen it.

That's why you run a rolling backup.

Be mindful of WD's 15% education discount and [cb] which I've used at 13%.

I got 22TB drives at under $15/tb.

Yep for Quicksilver offers you go through their portal, unsure if you can combine with other cash back sites (probably not)
