Yes. The Coffee Lake processors were some of the first to support HEVC 10-bit encoding, which is really helpful for 4k streaming for Plex or Jellyfin. Under the "Hardware encoding and decoding" section of this wiki article, there's a table that shows all Intel processor generations and what formats they do/don't support: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I...Sync_Video
Got one of these recently and I contacted Dell last Friday to unlock mine as I can't set it up because it's tied to a previous organization.
Still waiting for them to fix it.
Been looking at old lenovo micro pcs to set up proxmox and Home Assistant over the past few days. Saw this deal pop up and couldn't help myself, I got the 7070 MFF with 16GB ram for $218 shipped.
For anyone curious, sounds like the idle power draw is around 13W. That's about 9.5 kWh per month, and with Los Angeles' $0.33/kWh, about $3.14/month to run.

I love these little machines, but I've been sourcing them for $100-150 off Facebook Marketplace. Have both a Dell 5070 MFF (i5-9500T) and 3070 SFF (i5-9500) that I got from there. Bumped each of their RAM to 16GB, and have them both booting from NVMEs. Plex Server, Theta Edge Node, Minecraft Server, etc.
Great little devices, and I think the 9th Gen variants are the sweet spot.

thinking of picking one up to dabble in proxmox, running a plex server, etc. seems like a good deal?

They're plenty fast for most people, yeah. The only thing you might look into is getting a second ram stick for it.
Not sure if this is true across the board, but both of the ultra form factor optiplexes that I picked up came with one stick of memory. If you're already planning to upgrade the memory, that's good news because you only have to buy one. If not, it might bother you that the computer isn't running dual Channel, presumably because they didn't feel that business computers really needed that.
I bought a i7-8700 version last September for the same price. I gave it to the kid and no issues with it at all. I'm also contemplating taking it back for myself lol.

I'm running plex on like an i5-4670 or something and it works just fine watching 1080p. I'm running unraid on it as well. Plex doesn't need much to go
