TBH, the 29 forks (and shocks and droppers etc) were on sale too for a couple of months.

Most of what is left are the 27.5s because the popularity of that wheel size is down, that part is true.

Also the framing of the industry failing and crashing and whatnot that we keep reading/watching YT channels pushing etc, is IMHO, in bad faith: these companies enjoyed an unprecedented growth in sales and revenue during and the first years after COVID. Sales being "halved" soon-after they were doubled is an expected/predictable correction and not a catastrophe.

Regular people are supposed to be mature and save for a rainy day instead of spending all they got, but companies are "obviously" exempt to do the same with rainfall profits.

If you buy one of their half priced dropper posts, expect it to need to be sent it in for new seals and a nitrogen charge. I bought 2, both are weak, sent one it for for rebuild, came back strong but sticky and not smoothly operating...I have 5 droppers and my fox are the worst functioning (two of which are brand new).

Bike industry is struggling right now. Demand seems to have fallen off a cliff. A few years ago average family income was up $6000. Now it is -$2000. Less disposable income means cutting back on fun toys like bikes when you need to buy groceries.

Was the Z1 you bought new? I'd be interested in one at that price.
It was! Got it from Jenson.

Looks like they're out of stock now. I got the 140mm for like $289 before tax.

any recommendation on a decent dropper upgrade? I have a KS Rage-i Dropper that came with my bike and it's bad (sticky, slow to move). Been thinking Crankbrothers but 🤷 ♂️ not sure there's a reasonable sub $1k upgrade path.
Oneup makes fantastic droppers. They're easily serviceable at home without special tools and the company is very good with customer service (I broke one of mine being a dummy without a torque wrench and they sent replacement parts, no questions asked).

I personally like Oneup droppers. Easy to service. Pretty short insertion depth etc

Fork prices are crashing hard.

Just bought a marzocchi bomber z1 for under $300 last week.

Can't even get rid of my new take-off recon for $100 on marketplace.
lol same here. My Recon 130mm is lightly used listed at $70, maybe time to lower it?

They need to offer more 1-1/8" steerer options… and 26" wheel options. This is for people like me who have a lot of older high quality mtb parts and are building bikes for their kids. The main drivers of overpriced mtb parts (those who are close to retirement or just retired) have moved on to motorsports.

I've spent a lot of money on mtb parts, I know this stuff isn't cheap but I also know there is no reason for a quality fork to cost close to a grand or more. There really is not that much too them even factoring in the aluminum forging. Tolerances don't even have to be precise because bushings and rubbers seals make up for it (Rockshox is proof of that). Fox doesn't even have an excuse anymore ever since they moved production from California to China.
I've got an ancient Nomad 2 that needs a new fork and I didn't want to mullet it.

I just bought one a couple months ago from Colorado Cyclist and put it in my new bike. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet (weather) but it was sticky/weak/slow when testing. I just thought it needed to break in once I started riding it or my expectations were too high, or that the Amazon special in my hardtail was an outlier in quality to be so much "better." I was super excited to get it, as my first piece of Fox gear, and now I'm nervous it's just a dud. Thanks, lol..

What was the send-in process? Did you have to pay or was it warranty? How long was it gone? It sounds like it may not even be worth it if yours came back sticky anyway?

I guess I should've gotten the OneUp but I got sucked in by the Fox name/marketing/look lol.
Mines was sticking up to the last inch were you have to manually lift it up or press lever really fast without siting on saddle.

Warranty was within a year with receipt, once received they fix/replaced it and returns it within a week if I remembered correctly. I have not put it on a bike yet since I now have a Kashima dropper lol. The sticking issue does appear on that Kashima as well but people said play around with tension on the lever and it does seem to help.
Good luck!

Same experience with the Fox Transfer Dropper. Will not go up all the way unless starting from fully retracted state. Always stuck at around 1" from full extension. Tried new cable with no luck. Had to send to Fox for warranty review (Had to pay for shipping). Should have stayed with Bike Yoke.
I didn't pay for shipping. Anyways people said to play with tensioning on lever and it seems to randomly go all the way now. It goes up all the way (including last inch) silently when slowing pressing lever at least for me.

Yeah unlike Fox transfer dropper, cant even put air in lol

Btw if most droppers are sticking or not smooth then using a small amount of slickloleum grease is a good idea.

I think PNW droppers are rebranded Trans X posts (which are also sold under other names like… Brand X I think?).

Not saying anything about the quality, I've heard good things, but there are a few ways to get the same post, sometimes with a lower cost (albeit potentially without the same warranty).

Disclaimer: This is something I read on the internet a long time ago while doing research - you may want to do your own due diligence to confirm before acting on it. It may not be true any more or I may have mixed up the brands involved.

That said I have 2 PNW levers (one normal Loam and one 2x to fit around a remote shock lockout) and they're great.
I don't know for certain about a common manufacturer. But, I do know for certain there is no comparison in quality and features with the Trans-X dropper I sold last year and the current Loam dropper I have now. Yes, you are right about the levers; I have went through several and the PNW is outstanding.

I need help choosing a fork. I have the Orbea rise, looking for 29" tire, 150-170mm travel. I'm a heavy rider, so need something a little burly. Any advice?

PNW are good for not being too expensive. OneUp makes well liked ones as well. Bike Yoke is the cream of the crop with their Revive 2.0, it's one of the best you can get, but it's pricier.

I have the 140mm on my nukeproof scout. I'm in MN, so I've barely ridden it, but so far it feels 10x better than the recon that came on it from the factory.
