I have 3 of these that I got from Amazon at full price. It's a nice fan, if you're an attic fan believer then you'll like it. If you're an attic fan hater then you'll comment below about how attic fans are bad because they suck cool air out of the house and make your AC work harder. To each their own

That is the whole house fan you are referring to

That is all variable by your location's day and night temp swings, humidity, etc.. Sometimes used for just the attic though. The thought being the sun baking the roof all day heats up the attic air and removing that superheated air actually helps the AC cool the conditioned areas of the house.

My HVAC guy says these just make the attic dirtier and are not worth the trouble for my house being adequately vented. Anyone think he's wrong?

Where does the dirt come from? Ask him.

It's currently pollen season where I'm at. Looks like a dusting of yellow snow everywhere for several weeks. I imagine that would be EVERYWHERE in my attic if I used these right now

Shows 159 here. I actually had 2 installed about 6 months ago and one randomly died.

The BT seems somewhat of a gimmick since I would guess most homeowners aren't going up in their attic to install these so not sure how they would pair them with their phone unless they just always broadcast for easy pairing. Also when I was researching these originally there were complaints about them constantly having to be paired again.

This is true. My entire patio is dusted with pollen right now, eyes itchy and sneezing like crazy. I had to dust the pollen off the BBQ to cook today.

Need 2 of them to make it work right. Need one pushing in fresh air and one pulling out hot attic air
It depends on how the roof system is built, usually they make vented soffits that suck in that fresh air from the outside and then it gets pushed upward towards the top and outside by either ridge vent, gable or attic fan, in some cases they also install few rounded fans ones by top of roof. It mostly depends on the area and best option depends heavily on that.

You realize these are installed to EXHAUST hot attic air? It's not sucking air from the outside into the attic.

I got the smart controller and installed it on my attic fan. Overall, the controller and the app are working great. This is a great deal as i bought the controller alone for $70 on amazon.

Dormer Vents are enough.

Air would enter thru venst when this fan is pushing air out. Otherwise, you'd create a vacuum. So i imagine pollen would get in. But happy to be educated…

This seems to be VERY YMMV, which should be in the title or description. I doubt many will find this at their local Home Depot at this price.
