American Express Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Credit Card Welcome Offer increased to 185,000 points (Bevy, 155,000)

+20 Deal Score
27,050 Views
Offer ends 05/01/2024. The standard Brilliant offer is 85,000 Marriott points which is now up 100,000 points to 185,000. The Bevy is also up to a 155,000 point welcome offer.

I have the Brilliant card and it's a great way to earn Platinum status automatically, but also to work towards Lifetime Platinum with 25 elite night credits. Stack with the Marriott Bonvoy Business card for a total of 40 elite nights each year, only 10 away from earning suite night awards. The $650 annual fee is steep, but easily reducible to $350 with the $300 dining credit ($25 per month), which is so easy to get it's nearly same-as-cash. It also provides an annual free night award at a 85,000 point redemption level (higher than other cards). And it comes with Priority Pass Select for airport lounge access like most premium cards. That's a lot of value for $350 per year.

I'm with you and have both. Having the Brilliant with Platinum status has been a game changer for my family. We try to book only Marriotts that have a lounge, which means free breakfast, snacks/drinks all day and sometimes evening reception. The lounge is only available for Platinum and up members, unless you book an expensive room that includes lounge access. Break down as follows:

CSR
  • $300 travel credit (simple to use)
  • $180 instacart ($15/mo in groceries if if you do pickup and use a store that charges the same prices on instacart as they do in store)
  • $60 doordash (I do pickup and I let the credit stack up for 3mos max to $15 then pickup Chipotle which has the same prices as in store)
  • Total is $540 in credits, thats not including priority pass with restaurants, which allows you and one person to have a $28/each meal, thats another $56 in credits with only one flight, one way.
Bonvoy Brilliant
  • $300/25 mo restaurant credit (easy to use, dine out or in anywhere and the credit of $25 is automatic)
  • 85k free night cert (easily worth another $300 depending on where you book.)
  • Platinum status (Free breakfast at Marriotts with lounges, saves you easily $60+ a day in breakfast and snacks/beverages)
  • Elite Night credits, late checkout, priority pass, but you already the better priority pass through your CSR
Both cards are "keeper cards" for my family and we get well above the fees values from each. As you can tell, I left off a lot of other benefits that come with having both. But I wanted to point out how you could possible make both work.

Do you have Instacart plus still through Chase Sapphire? Mine expired and since then they charge a $4.99 pickup fee for orders. Checked Aldi, jewel and a couple other stores, all charging a pickup fee

If we already have the Marriott Bonvoy card + additional cardholder, can we still get the 185000 points offer if we apply for the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant? If not, can the additional cardholder apply to get it?

Does anyone know if Amex platinum sign up benefits affect my ability to receive this one? I received a platinum sign up bonus 2.5 years ago, just want to make sure that won't interfere before applying.

I got the Amex Bonvoy business card last year. Little confused, which one of the personal cards can I stack with this to still get the welcome offer?
Any. Doesn't have to be American Express. You can stack the elite nights from 1 personal card and 1 business card. I prefer Brilliant for the personal card since it's 25 nights.

Quote from nicztim :
If I have the Bevy, can I apply for Brilliant and still get all the bonus? Or need to cancel Bevy & wait?
Should be able to, yes. They are separate cards with separate welcome offers.

Quote from suprastang :
Is American Express the one where you can only get the sign up offer once ever?
That's correct. You could not get the Brilliant's welcome offer twice.

What do you guys think of the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless card from Chase with 5 nights free, $95 annual fee? Seems like a good sign up bonus?
It's decent. I prefer the points. More flexibility if you just need a hot and a cot, and aren't trying to take some elaborate vacation. And more chances to double-dip when there are point discounts.

Separate cards. Separate welcome offers.

How do you all compare the Brilliant vs the Hilton Aspire? I am looking to use the card for a couple of international trips to Europe this year and next

Partner and I already have the CSR and the Amex Platinum

Can the spouse get an additional card and enjoy a priority pass benefit on the additional card?
E.g. if the family of four travelling together, can the primary and additional member cover access to lounge for whole family?

I heard that Venture X card can have multiple additional card holder and each additional card holder can bring one extra person to use lounge.

I was approved but unable to get the welcome offer. Anyone run into this and still have a welcome offer applied to their account or talk to customer service and get something going?

Have you had a Bonvoy bonus less than 24 months ago?

No. That isn't the case. Maybe I have to cut down the number of AMEX cards.

Years ago, some of the best Hilton HHonors redemptions were in Eastern Europe, but most of those hotels have doubled in price (points) now. There are still some good deals in Turkey, but for Europe Marriott is generally better. Hyatt still has some fantastic deals on Hyatt place properties near major airports in Europe. Choice hotels has great redemptions in Scandinavia, but unfortunately many of those have increased sharply within the past year.

The current boundless offer beats this card in terms of bonus points/nights, not other features. I have the brilliant for many years already, and just signed up for the boundless 2 weeks ago. On the boundless You are essentially getting 250k with ability to top up on each night. If you already have status that's even better. You just need to make sure it's worth your while and you have a plan to maximize each night. For example, don't use it to stay 5 nights at courtyard or Fairfield inn that's 20k points a night and lose the remainder of your points. Make sure you're planning to stay and actually able to stay a higher tier hotel.

Sorry, but this is one of the lower offers on the brilliant card. I know you can't go back in time but I would not sign up on this card for less than 150k points. I signed up for 150 and so I did my wife at two different times. Just wait for a better sign up on this on this. If you're looking for the best bonus right now, go with the boundless card.

This offer is for 185k points. That's higher than 150k...
