American Express Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant Credit Card Welcome Offer increased to 185,000 points (Bevy, 155,000)

+20 Deal Score
27,050 Views
Offer ends 05/01/2024. The standard Brilliant offer is 85,000 Marriott points which is now up 100,000 points to 185,000. The Bevy is also up to a 155,000 point welcome offer.

I have the Brilliant card and it's a great way to earn Platinum status automatically, but also to work towards Lifetime Platinum with 25 elite night credits. Stack with the Marriott Bonvoy Business card for a total of 40 elite nights each year, only 10 away from earning suite night awards. The $650 annual fee is steep, but easily reducible to $350 with the $300 dining credit ($25 per month), which is so easy to get it's nearly same-as-cash. It also provides an annual free night award at a 85,000 point redemption level (higher than other cards). And it comes with Priority Pass Select for airport lounge access like most premium cards. That's a lot of value for $350 per year.

Lol totally read it wrong, thanks for straightening me out. Good deal on brilliant but still better deal on boundless

I agree, boundless would be worth 250,000 points equivalent, depending on use. My plan is to PC to Ritz Carlton on the 2nd year after getting the Brilliant and Business.

Have a work trip and weddings trips (my own and others) this year so the boundless with the 5 free nights bonus was a no brainer

Not really, the point is to make best use of the credits so that come with the card to pay for most or all of your annual fee

Who cares what "they're" banking on, it's on you not to screw yourself and take advantage of every benefit. If you do get screwed it's your own fault jeez

Do you have Instacart plus still through Chase Sapphire? Mine expired and since then they charge a $4.99 pickup fee for orders. Checked Aldi, jewel and a couple other stores, all charging a pickup fee
I still have instacart plus through the CSR. Didn't realize once that expired that the fee would be $4.99, good to know.

No. That isn't the case. Maybe I have to cut down the number of AMEX cards.
If you got the pop up after you applied telling you that you won't get welcome offer, then it's the Amex pop up jail. There is no official info from Amex but from YT videos most people list the most likely way to get out of jail is to spend a lot on existing Amex cards for a few months. You can also be in jail if you've recently gotten intro bonus on Amex cards. You also wouldn't qualify for this offer if you got the chase marriott bonus in past 24 months.

The current boundless offer beats this card in terms of bonus points/nights, not other features. I have the brilliant for many years already, and just signed up for the boundless 2 weeks ago. On the boundless You are essentially getting 250k with ability to top up on each night. If you already have status that's even better. You just need to make sure it's worth your while and you have a plan to maximize each night. For example, don't use it to stay 5 nights at courtyard or Fairfield inn that's 20k points a night and lose the remainder of your points. Make sure you're planning to stay and actually able to stay a higher tier hotel.

Thanks for the tip! Where can I go about searching for points redemption on Marriott for the 5 nights using the 250k points? Thank you!

Just do a regular new booking search, pick your 5 days, and switch to points instead of cash. Another good way to know what each nights point value is to select one night only, and click the " my dates are flexible" and you will see a calendar or all points values in a long calendar format. My local favorite high end hotel can go as low as 40k points a night but as high as 73k points at peak, so there are potentially some nights I cannot use the 50k cert even when topping up because they are over 65k. You will need to do some planning.

Got it. So it has to be 50k points or less per night to make it a 5-night and no more than 250k points.

Will I still be able to apply for the Brilliant after the Boundless?

Your certs are 50k each, and you get 5, therefore 250k points, but if you have points you can top up each night with an additional 15k so each night can be up to 65k. So in my example, if the night I want to stay is 73k, I cannot use the 50k cert and top up, it has to be 65k or less. Keep in mind you don't need to book 5 days straight, you can book 1 day at a time.

Yes you can get the brilliant after this card, different issuer, different bonus and rules. I don't think there are bonus restrictions but you have to review.

I hit Lifetime Platinum 5 years ago since I've been traveling for work since I was 20 (took almost 20 years). I think it was for over 1,000 nights. Marriott has gone way downhill over the last 8 years or so. Points cost sometimes triple what they were just 3 years ago. I rarely get a welcome gift anymore because the 19 year old behind the counter could care less. Rooms don't seem as clean. Got my wife and I the Venture X card about 4 years ago and we've been happy with it. Much nicer doing your own shopping for a trip and then just applying points to pay them off. Just my 2 cents.
