Recycle router? Is there an option in the app to do off and then back on after a min? If the router hung, might lost access to everything.
If the Tapo plugs are anything like the Kasa ones (of which I have many), you can create a schedule to turn off at a certain time, say 12:00a midnight, and then back on a minute later, and I believe it's stored locally, so schedule will still work even if the wi-fi itself is down. I had to do that sometimes with a flaky modem or router.

If trying to do on demand, may not work if local wi-fi is down, since app needs at least a local network. But if wi-fi is up, but broadband Internet is down, I think you can still send a local command to recycle the plug for the modem.

Ah, that's an interesting use case. So I presume whatever you're using for automation polls the washing machine energy consumption data, considers it running/started when it uses more/any power, and finished when it's drawing less/zero power for some time?

I see a 1-pack for $9.99 or 3-pack for 24.99(sold out). I think Costco has a better price
1-pack (of 3). But you have to pay shipping.

The power monitor plug pushes the data. Once a thread hold is met then drops for a period of time, it fires the automations which have been monitoring for the power drop.

I use Hubitat for this. I also use home assistant for a dryer routine, which is more complex.

I know of others who have used the power monitor data to reflect their utility costs.

Sky's the limit on being creative with this stuff.

I have a TP-Link Kasa smart plug (KP115) on our washing machine, with power monitoring capability. The Alexa app doesn't expose any of the power monitoring features to trigger a routine, only the on/off state. Does your smart plug let you define routines triggered by power events in Alexa using the Alexa app, or are you using Home Assistant and Nabu Casa? TIA!

I'm using the older HS110 and have it reporting into Hubitat.

To do anything worthwhile requires using something like node red, Hubitat, Home Assistant, etc to utilize the data reported by the plugs.

It's not necessary to use all three mentioned above. Pick one and have fun!

Great - thanks! I am running Home Assistant but haven't done anything too sophisticated with it yet - I see the energy usage reflected in Home Assistant and need to integrate Alexa to set up some voice notifications on the washing machine status.

Thanks for the info. Let me unplug the WAN port and do a test. It will be cool if it works.

How's this compare to the Feit 3 pack smart plugs from Costco? I got those for $12.

This way I hear and see to know I need to move the laundry so it doesn't sit and get forgotten.

I use them with a motion sensor to trigger voice and light routines (with a lamp plugged in) which is helpful at night.
I use one to turn on/off my external hard drive so it's not always running.
When I'm in virtual meeting, I trigger one to turn on the lighting so my face is lit up.
I use others to turn on cameras when I leave the home.
I use another to recycle the router when there are wifi issues.
I have more that do other things but that's an idea of some stuff.
Timers work great as well to turn things on/off when not home via away/home automations via Alexa, Hubitat, or Home Assistant.

Once you start with one or two, you'll think of ways to use them.

Do these have motion detectors?

I haven't set any of these up yet, but yes, they should work with SmartThings.
"Matter devices work with any certified platform such as Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home & SmartThings." per product information. Also SmartThings is one of the organizations that together support Matter.
