I've gotten pretty good at replacing parts this this exact vacuum that I bought refurbished… Battery, motor and main housing, and the junk plastic trigger. And now I have to hit the back of the battery to get it to turn off…

I'm in the market for a cordless vacuum. Does anyone have experience with this model or with Dyson refurbs?

Apparently its better to go after the V11 when its available, but not a dealbreaker if you go with this one.
Refurbs tend to be fine outside of occasional battery issues. And it makes me more acceptable in price versus the $500+ for a new one.
And as the poster said above, its fairly easy to Frankenstein repairs of parts that break or need replacing, including the batteries.Im still using a V6 which at this point every part but the vacuum stick has been replaced. Repair parts are relatively cheap and its been over 8 years.

I have this one, got it new from Costco last year. It's my first cordless and my first Dyson. I have 2 large dogs and 2 large carpets. So far it's given me no issues and I use it daily 7 days a week.

If you are coming from a corded regular vaccum you we be amazed at what this thing picks up. Even until today it shocks me.

Putting it together takes 5 minutes tops, cleaning and maintenance is super easy. The only small complaint I can give it is that you press a trigger to start it up and I could see that giving someone who has to vaccum a very large area finger fatigue but honestly it's no factor.

Overall I don't see myself ever going back to a regular vaccum.

Own one. Good power. Easy to clean. Useful attachments. Light use here. Owned for two years no issues. Bought mine new. At this price it's well worth the refurb chance.

Maybe you can give me some advice. My V8 animal, when i attach it to the base to charge, it charges for about 10-15 min and then just stops. The 3 charging lights just go dark. I can still charge the battery, but i have to keep removing it from the base and putting it back on. Can't figure out if the batter or the charger needs to be replaced. The unit was a refurb that just came off the 3 yr extended warranty.

I have 3 Dyson sticks: 5? (pre-six), 8, and 10. All three refurbished, all 3 still plugging along. Haven't replaced a single part.

This is a stellar price for the 10

You can buy aftermarket replacement batteries on Amazon for around $45 and replacement chargers for around $15. Or, if you have batteries for cordless power tools, you can buy an adapter that will let you use those batteries with your Dyson. I recently replaced the battery on my V8 with an adapter for DeWalt batteries. It's a great solution since you can quickly swap out batteries and not have to wait for a built-in one to recharge.

I have an LG (A9?) purchased from Costco a couple of years ago with 2 spare batteries for about $200.
Not as powerful as a regular vacuum but not bad at all. I've never drained a battery even on turbo mode. It's small enough you can grab it to vacuum one area. Our 7 year old can handle it easily, likewise myself and my wife. But teenagers, totally beyond their ability. The only gripe with my model is you need a pencil or chopstick to help empty the dust bucket.

Wow, if you're considering, check out the reviews on Amazon sorted by most recent. Enough to make me pass.
