Is this a screaming deal? Not exactly, it's $100 right now and it'll go up to its normal price if $120 in a couple of weeks I'd guess.
Here's the thing about crawlers, it all comes down to the mods you put on it. It's a deep, dark hole you'll walk into (trust me) but you'll look to upgrade things like wheels & tires first (almost a must-do), then you'll start adding brass parts to weigh it down so it won't flip, then you the world is your oyster: motors, esc's, lights, suspension, you name it!
So what's the catch? It's all about the aftermarket support. In this class (size) there are really two key players: Axial & Traxxas. There are a handful of really great other players like FMS, HobbyPlus, Panda,m, and even Furitek (formerly focused on electronics) came out with a kickass model recently.
Red Cat has been in RC for a LONG time, but focused on the 1/10th scale mostly, so they're not newcomers but they are new to the scale.
My thoughts: this is a great starter rig, but did you're looking for upgrade paths, this one will be a tiny bit limited for now. If you want the very broadest upgrade paths, you're gonna wanna go Traxxas (primarily for those looking for a great looking truck) or Axial (if you're looking to eventually do competitions). If you wanna spend a bit more there are some excellent options at the $150-$200 that are closer to excellent products.
But honestly, if you're just getting into it, I'd HIGHLY recommend trying something like this and if you enjoy it then look to buy a used, already upgraded rig off of FB Marketplace or Offer Up. Let someone else pay full price and you'll pay half price already upgraded. But that's just me, you do you!!
