Is it safe to use this in NJ vs bottle water? NJ groundwater is very contaminated
Good thing zero municipalities just pump water directly from ground water and call it a day. Even if the ground water there was 99% lead, mercury and SuperAIDS, that means nothing as its treated and then delivered to your faucet. If you were concerned about this issue, which you are not, you'd get a water test performed at your house. Based on those results you'd get a NSF/ANSI certified filter system based on those results for pitcher/faucet/whole house use.

Anyone else concerned about all the plastic? I wish they made these in glass.

Bought mine in july 2023 off amazon with 1 elite filter. Yet till today it still has a green sensor when pouring. I don't know if mine is malfunctioned or a sign I'm not drinking enough water lol
The elite filters last six months/120 gallons compared to two months/40 gallons for regular filter. 120 gallons of water is quite a bit and I could see the elite lasting a long time.

I was changing the regular filters every 2 months despite the green light being on. I let the last two filters go until the red light came on and I was getting around 4 months. The measuring sensor is for gallons poured and not filtering quality. If someone's water is extra manky I would change filter sooner than the 120 gallon mark.

Project Farm tested filters and ZeroWater did the best at particles. Brita standard is all charcoal and that is best for things like Chlorine. Bacteria and viruses not so much

As far as filters go they are the staple brand but getting one that filters fluoride is key. I think zero water does and this one I've used for years it actually tastes significantly different.

If happy with Brita in general, this is a smoking deal.

I have this same filter and live in NJ. Works great for me but water is not bad where I live. This is a good deal imo. Only thing I have issue with is how heavy this is when it is full of water.

I have Pur and always debate switching to Britta, but I never end up pulling the trigger. Pur supposedly has better filtration, so that keeps me with them.

Obligatory Project Farm video on him testing water filters - https://youtu.be/ja0ioX6GSz0

Zero Water is the best filter at removing contaminates but no one just drinks straight distilled water. Companies purposefully add minerals and other things into distilled water to make it healthier and tastier to drink.

I don't think there's an easy results chart from this video but back when I watched this way back then, I think Brita came out subjectively on top for me or at least near the top.

I recall test vids where Pur took longer to filter without a commensurate gain in results.
I know Brita isn't perfect but its quite speedy for basic stuff like Chlorine

I have a pur pitcher and it is plenty fast. The pur plus filters that filter lead out are much slower and more likely to clog, though, but I don't need or use those

Will this effectively filter out lead?
If not can anyone recommend a filter that will?

Costco on sale is usually $21.99 with 2 filters so the extra 3 filters are basically $8 which is cheap
Slight correction to your math. This comes with 4 filters total, so two extra filters, not three, for $8.

no it comes with a total of 5 filters. 1 is included with the pitcher and you also get a pack of 4
