my ps5 no longer reads blu rays and the laser needs to be replaced. Something that i plan on doing but its essentially the same price as this upgrade. wonder if they would accept my console.
Yes they will. They may charge a refurbish fee, but you should still clear $250+

This just seems like a complete waste of time and resources. My launch PS5 runs great.

I upgraded my PS5 right before Xmas when they were offering $400 trade in. The Slim does generate less heat so it should extend the lifespan. Plus you're getting a renewed warranty, if you planned to buy spiderman 2 it's an added bonus....or you could try to sell the code and make most of your money back.

Main differences are the USBs at the front of the unit, and I did notice that the fans doesn't sound like an airplane taking off for intense games.
Lifespan? I still have my original PlayStation, my PS2, PS3 and PS4! All of them have a couple thousand hours of playtime easily, probably more! I have never had one die in many many years. I've had controllers go bad, a hard drive mess up, even a couple game disc's that didn't play right, but the main system keeps on trucking. I have my original NES, N64, Gameboy and Gameboy color, even my first Atari. If you take care if these things, blow the dust out once in a while and keep them in a cooled room, they seem to last forever. I wore out my PS3 headset and went through several controllers over the years, same with the PS4, but it's still kicking!

My OG PSP and fat PS2 still function. Game consoles are very durable and I haven't had one die on me. They just get dusty if you don't store them properly

You can also stack this with the $25 off a $250+ pick up order.

How likely are they to give you the full 385 dollar credit? Is it possible to find this in store?

If it was a special edition console I would consider it, but the slim isn't all that slim and everything else is negligible. Not worth the hassle or 82$ in my opinion.

I did this trade in a few days ago. The slim PS5 is really loud compared to the original. You can Google this. I'm definitely disappointed in that regard.

Cool - ty. Going to go ahead and buy the membership and do the trade in tomorrow.
If you are sensitive to fan noise don't do the trade. The second you start any game the fan ramps up and it's not pleasant.
