I thought about selling my PS5 recently. I am just not playing games on there as much. I know NextGen consoles won't be out for a few few years but is it worth it to go for this credit versus trying to sell yourself? I don't know what I would get for it but this credit would not get used for a while most likely..
selling yourself gets you around the same price unfortunately. Granted it changes depending on when a new game comes out (such as FF7-2/Rebirth currently).

Can I trade in my console and save the money for the pro?
I don't know why I thought the "first generation ps5" would be more of a trade in for the future pro version.

I agree that it's not a bad deal if you consider it as a paid warranty extension. However the PS5 Pro is rumored to come out later this year so it might make more sense to wait for that IMHO.

In terms of making your money back via selling the code, people should be aware there are A LOT of digital copies of Spiderman 2 on the market so you won't be making anywhere near $65 unless you you find someone clueless.

Also... Not to throw shade but, a properly functioning PS5 (even the launch model) should never sound like an airplane taking off (even for intense games) unless it's been seriously neglected in terms of cleaning... (or you've just never experienced the PS4 or a gaming PC.)
My gaming PC's never sounded that loud

Trade it in and get gift cards. Nothing on PS5 now or the near future worth a damn. Get steam cards.

Just got a disc stuck in there last night. If I can successfully get that disc out I might just do this because it's probably on its last legs. No clue how to transfer data. Need to look that up

I upgraded my PS5 right before Xmas when they were offering $400 trade in. The Slim does generate less heat so it should extend the lifespan. Plus you're getting a renewed warranty, if you planned to buy spiderman 2 it's an added bonus....or you could try to sell the code and make most of your money back.

Main differences are the USBs at the front of the unit, and I did notice that the fans doesn't sound like an airplane taking off for intense games.
What a big waste of time. Why not just wait for the PS5 Pro and get that.

Anybody know how the trade-in works in CA for tax? Read a comment above, but wasn't sure. If I trade in at 385 and buy the slim do I just pay the tax on the difference? Or do I get $385 total credit and then pay tax on the full price of the new console?

Pop off the bottom plate. There is a black circle sticker you can remove to uncover a hole. Underneath is a screw you can turn to manually eject the disc.

I got the disc version to enjoy some used discs. Why should I trade in for a non disc version?

I live in CA, I just traded in mine today and bought Slim disc bundle at same time. they did separate transactions. So they gave $385 store credit in first transaction. then I was taxed on $424.99 on slim disc bundle because there was $25 off promotion going on. total was 462.18 after tax. I traded in my 2020 released PS5. Original PS5 was fine but I thought it was good opportunity to get new console and controller with free game
