This is the first time I've seen the refurbished Era 300s on Sonos' website. This is a good deal if you missed out at the end of February for the 30% upgrade credit. $359/each compared to new at $449/each. Enjoy!
I just got a set and they are great for stereo set for music, I also tried with pair as surrounding for Arc, not as I expected, I can not hear difference as I tested on non atom music
I just got my era 300s today from the 30% upgrade. Will report back but the Sonos Reddit is filled with reviews. Someone else said mixed reviews - I'd say most are positive. Just depends on your needs. If you watch a lot of Atmos content or spatial audio, this sounds like it should be for you. If you just listen to music (no arc setup), the fives will be better
How does this compare to beam, if I just want one as a tv speaker?
I bet it sounds a lot better. But just taking a guess at this but I don't know if you can create a surround sound effect via the app if youre not using the arc or beam. At least I've never tried to connect just my speakers and sub to get the effect.
I have Sonos including arcs and subs. Haven't gotten these as I wasn't sure if it would be that much better of a movie experience. Can anyone comment?
My personal opinion is this- we started with an ARC and the sound was nice but underwhelming as I was coming from a 10" sub, center speaker, and a pair of bookshelf speakers. We added the SUB next and it made a huge difference and sounded as good as my previous setup while taking up less space. Then there was a sale and we got the ERA 300s and I am VERY impressed. Just watched Dune part 1 a few nights ago and the sound was AWESOME. We watch a fair amount of Atmos content so we get good use out of the surround capabilities.

Yes - just paired these 300s with my Arc and 2 subs in the bedroom. Unfortunately, now the Arc is the weakest link. Rumor has it that Arc 2 is imminent to pair respectably with these as the Arc is now 4 years old and starting to lag behind other soundbars in the market like Samsung Q990C, Nakamichi Dragon etc. Also, these are really bulky speakers and I'll have to get used to these hogging real estate on my nightstands. I may just go back to Ones and save some money ... haven't decided yet. Also note that Sonos have confirmed that in surround configuration, the front tweeter of Era 300 is not used. It is only used when it is used for music playback outside of a HT set up. So it's just adding to the size and cost of the speaker without doing anything.
By the way, while most of my Sonos products have been operating well, I had one go bad (wireless nightmare and ultimately refused to even factory rest - becoming a brick) ... and that happened to be one of the refurbished ones. So I'm a little gun shy of refurbs but that could just be bad luck/coincidence.
Reviews seem a bit mixed when it comes to 1s vs Era 300s for use as surrounds when not playing Atmos content.
Reviews aren't really mixed. These have 3 physical surround channels each (left right up) and produce much more convincing surround sound effects compared to the Ones which have a single channel each and the listener can obviously tell precisely where the channel is coming from.
Where it's a bit mixed is that in surround duty the era 300 shuts off its big primary channel because the indirect firing back ring is more suitable for surround effects. It just feels like a shame Sonos doesn't sell a special surround speaker that's just the back half instead of having you buy a pair of $450 speakers and leave the primary channel disabled.

Yeah, I have an Arc as well. I decided to order refurbished One SL for the rears. Now, to acquire a sub.

Away from the kids? Not gonna lie that I haven't fantasized the same one or ten times…
