Product Description: | About Magnat Alpha RS Active Subwoofer, Black Alpha RS Subwoofer Active, profound and perfect for a home cinema and stereo setup Our Alpha RS active subwoofer are an ideal addition to any home cinema or hi-fi system. Thanks to its variable parameters, the RS subwoofer can be connected to speakers from any manufacturer and always achieve optimal audio results. Home Cinema It cannot be denied that the low-frequency content in a hi-fi and surround system is decisive for the perceived sound quality and, thereby, one's film and music experience. On the other hand, the placement of speakers is particularly critical because of the low frequency. Active, profound and perfect for a home cinema and stereo setup It cannot be denied that the low-frequency content in a hi-fi and surround system is decisive for the perceived sound quality and, thereby, one's film and music experience. On the other hand, the placement of speakers is particularly critical because of the low frequency range. Resonance and standing waves can quickly occur and diminish the audio impact. The answer to these issues lies in active subwoofers, such as the Alpha RS series from Magnat. These can be set up virtually anywhere, because we cannot locate low frequencies. And, thanks to the integrated amplifier, they are independent of the power produced by the electronics, regardless of whether it's a stereo amplifier or a surround receiver. Two models, one with a 200 mm bass chassis, the other measuring 300 mm in diameter, allow an existing home cinema or hi-fi system, regardless of the make or model, to achieve a new, undreamt of level of quality in the deep bass range. Perfect adaptation to the room With various control options for the level, crossover frequency and phase, the Alpha RS active subwoofers can be perfectly adapted to suit any existing system. Thanks to their high-level input, the Alpha series subwoofers can even be used with older components that lack a corresponding subwoofer pre-out. You simply use a free speaker output on the amplifier and |

Just looked it over again- the 12" is only 31 pounds, no way it's a serious driver or cabinet at that weight. I'm getting a white van speaker vibe lol.

Yes I agree power rating is pretty weak. They also do not publish all the specs. If I hits 20hz probably at nearly no output

But no reviews on how it sounds which is the big thing. Would get two if because the price is insane. They must be losing out on shipping costs...

How will you test it out? Return shipping for this 31 lb sub is probably close to the price paid for it.
If you don't need much sub 30hz frequency, you enjoy tactile feel, and have space behind your seats, then I'd buy a couple of these and place them there. You can enjoy them like bass shakers with sub sound.
I'm debating my audio setup for an ultra high-end gaming PC (I also use my PC as my TV more often than not). I have already ordered a pair of Jamo S 803s and a Jamo S 810 in black. I also ordered a pair of Fluance SX6-BK speakers. Regardless, unless someone introduces me to something superior, these go with a Fosi BL20C I ordered. I think the Fluance set sounds better than the Jamos when excluding the sub (just speaker vs speaker, the sub is still in-transit). I feel like the Fluance set is far superior in the treble department and slightly better for mids, but the Jamos win for bass. But with a sub now in the mix, bass seems irrelevant for the speakers. Once I saw the S 810 for $89 I figured it couldn't be beat for the price, but now I'm second guessing it based on this one. Can anyone recommend what sub and speaker combination I should use? Should I get this instead of the S 810? Price is important, as are looks (matching equipment is ideal but not required), but ultimately I care about sound first. I don't need to rattle windows a mile away, but I do want something I can crank on occasion and enjoy. I live in a rural area with my closest neighbor about 100 yards away. Ultimately I'd order this sub and return the one I don't like, but it seems Adorama charges return shipping which could be a deal-breaker for subs. I'd likely have to resell private.

Interesting. Is that regardless of which set of speakers I keep? Like I said, I think I favor the Fluance set, but the Jamos match and don't sound terrible either.
I guess an advantage for the S 810 is the space factor, which is cramped on my desk due to my monitor size and now a large-ish set of speakers.
Thanks for the input regardless!
