Just some food for thought on anyone thinking of purchasing this pc. I purchased this about 2 years ago and have had nothing but problems. A year after purchasing the ssd drive went out and had to send it in under warranty work for the replacement. Just recently, it was acting very strange with odd codes at boot. Turns out the motherboard went out. This is a common issue with this pc and a number of people online have had the same problem.

Thoughts on this? I have uses that would cannibalize the gpu for another computer, and make this into a home server, multimedia streamer, and emulation station.

Pretty good for the price. Here's some additional comments when it was posted recently on 2/19 and on 1/11.

Shame it's the 5600G, would have made a lot more sense for a 5600X here since the G's have integrated graphics and an older Zen architecture on the actual CPU cores.

That's the only reason I can think of to buy a apu/GPU combo

Oh didn't notice that... There is almost no reason to buy an APU if you have a GPU to begin with (some people will argue it's nice to have the onboard video in case the GPU goes, which is valid but a more powerful dedicated CPU is better imo. You wouldn't just game on integrated graphics because your GPU died).

Putting an APU on a motherboard with no video output is beyond stupid. They're just clearing out parts with these.

How would this run as a dedicated Plex server for remix/4k?

Gonna need to upgrade that hard drive ASAP if you want 2 games or 4 8k movies. An gonna have to choose between the two. Right away it's a no Brainer for me as the case is so small You couldn't even fit much in it. Maybe good for mid range gaming if that's your only plan. Easy to add an hdd if it has a slot for that. But that'll be your last add on. I used mid cases as the recorder for my main pc to capture audio or regulate volume. So I'd see this as a 800$ cable adaptor 😅

But if this is like your first pc I'm sure it's way better than the dells advertised as god teir Bill Gates/microsoft central server use hardware on here.

Just do your own research an see if the pcie lanes an slots are enough for your planned use. An later if you need more ; this will become a web browser for ya while u do important things

I'd look into the specific gfx card on it yourself. An are you running 8k or 4k or 1080? Sadly even vlc doesn't seem to optimize very well an i had a mad crazy workhorse that could still take a few seconds to load or skip thru 4k. If you run 1080p most things; cept maybe a dell; could handle that. But as a server I suggest you have a larger case cause you can fill one HDD pretty fast. However if not storing 100 4k+ videos it could work well. I really don't trust specs or hearsay.

Either way even windows an proggies will Fill half of 528gb. So as a server this still needs a really storage solution. Look up the 12gb drives on here an pay the extra $80 to add it on (assuming this has at least 9ne extra 3.5 bay)
