Besides the style, you really can't compare the two. It's a budget thing.

You have no idea... This isn't a cheap battery-powered Timex. This is a fully mechanical watch that is powered by a spring.

There is no correlation to accuracy between automatic or hand-wound. One is no more accurate than the other.

Hand-wound movements are often thinner than automatics. This Timex is rather thin and part of that is due to it being hand-wound.

I thought it was a nice looking, basic watch. At this price though, also thought it would be self-winding.

Was thinking of grabbing one and putting it on a thick nato strap, unfortunately too many reviews complaining about movement failing or showing up doa.

I'm not familiar with watches, but as far as I can tell, this is not automatic, correct? Does that mean that it often needs to be hand-wound?

To be clear, the choice to make this hand wound goes with the style. This is a copy of the Hamilton Khaki, which is a mechanical watch rather than automatic. It does make for a smaller watch though.

This is handwound which means you have to crank the crown. Automatic of course is wound by your everyday movements. Handwound is less accurate than automatics, but both are inferior in strict timekeeping to a simple quartz battery watch. I love my automatics though!!

I rarely write reviews unless it is a complaint. I take the time with eBay because it is based on reputation. It's like writing a review on the mall website because you liked a pair of shoes you bought. Few people actually do that. However, if there is a problem...you'll get your negative feedback. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Besides, they take returns.

There ARE automatic watches that can be More accurate than typical quartz watches.

..

And, there ARE a few quartz watches more accurate than the typical quartz watch that do not need winding, movement, or batteries.
