I've said it in multiple threads but honestly I've had great service from go hard drive. They simply refund you the money or send a replacement if one is available. Seemless process and yes they do warranty for 5 years.

I bought this a week ago and they included the cable as well as a strip of Kapton tape and clear instructions.

Slightly under 4yrs of use, spinning 24hrs a day.... Less failure rate than Seagates... Drives are 4-5yrs old... Choices... choices...

Should be OK running RAID 6, right?

It has the Power Disable SATA feature..how do you deal with that? Esp. with a 5+ year old QNAP NAS.

"Should" is one of the most dangerous words around...

But yes - as long as you know what you're getting and are prepared to keep the data in a redundant system, this drive will work for you.

You can use Kapton tape to cover the pin that governs the SATA power disable feature - I believe it's the third pin from the center, but I would not trust me - Google Kapton tape power disable so I don't make your drive burst into flames Smilie

Don't really need any fancy Kapton tape. Regular old electrical tape and even plain cellophane tape can work. Heck, even clear nail polish. Just anything to break the power connection to the 3rd power pin. Though those plain tapes have more tendency to shift or wear through when installing the plug. Once you get it installed and in place, they should good for as long as you use the drive, unless you have to unplug and move the drive again for some reasons.

Heres a YT example...

Hard choice. Gohd has the same drive for 89 with a 5 year warranty. Is it worth saving $10 a drive?

If you prefer Seagate the same company's eBay store has 12TB (same condition/warranty) for $72.99. https://www.ebay.com/itm/296257317863

Thanks for the tips.

But regarding the redundant backup--well either you do that, even with new drives, or you lose your data sometime in the next decade. Computer hardware will eventually fail, more or less at random.

Which state are you in? The seemed to start charging tax to CA, not sure if for other states as well.
