But yes - as long as you know what you're getting and are prepared to keep the data in a redundant system, this drive will work for you.

But yes - as long as you know what you're getting and are prepared to keep the data in a redundant system, this drive will work for you.
You can use Kapton tape to cover the pin that governs the SATA power disable feature - I believe it's the third pin from the center, but I would not trust me - Google Kapton tape power disable so I don't make your drive burst into flames
But regarding the redundant backup--well either you do that, even with new drives, or you lose your data sometime in the next decade. Computer hardware will eventually fail, more or less at random.
