8GB of RAM is limiting but this is fine for basic use (web, email, office, etc.). If a basic desktop computing appliance is what you want then this is good.

No, "Unified Memory" isn't some magic that makes 8GB similar to any larger capacity and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. Yes, this model has a slower SSD than M1 because it uses 1x256GB chip rather than 2x128GB chips like M1 did but that is irrelevant for the type of use this is base model is useful for.
