This is funny.. if you don't know if you need 48gb MORE of ram, then you don't need this computer.
The HP from Costco is a better overall package and better value for money if you need an all-purpose laptop. It's a 120Hz screen, larger battery (68 Wh vs 52 in lenovo), better speakers, better all-metal chassis, etc.

If you need built-in ethernet, or have a specific need for more than 16GB RAM, or want the famous "Lenovo Keyboard", or want to later add a cellular modem to your laptop, then the Lenovo might be the better option.

Also worth noting the HP uses MediaTek wifi. I've got it working well now in Linux using the latest firmware/drivers, but had some issues when I first bought it. I'll bet the qualcom in the Lenovo is better supported overall.
That's a lot of RAM!

This or the HP on sale at Costco for $700? You're basically trading $300 and Costco customer service for 48GB additional RAM, an ethernet port, and a different brand. Not sure which I think is the better value.

Nevermind - very confusing as the Lenovo page has WSDEALS as the coupon code, and the OP's coupon code is WSDEAL8.

Not so simple -- I have plenty of computer hobbies that can benefit from RAM but that don't make me money. Is the extra RAM worth $300 for my hobbies, knowing it can't be upgraded later if I don't opt for it now? I'm not sure.

64gb is overkill for almost everybody but at this price, why not?

Anyone wanting even more detail on their order status can use the Lenovo Order Visibility Portal [lenovo.com] to get expected ship and delivery dates.

Is this site legit? It gives me a date later than a full week than the regular order status. March 27th! Frown

Afraid so and it could be worse like when I ordered a custom T14 AMD Gen1 in December 2020 and watched my status go back and forth for 5 months until it was finally delivered that May. People who got in early on the deal probably took domestic stock while I suspect mine may be in production unless they have inventory in Hong Kong. I'll update when I see a change so others can know what to expect.

I was kind of waiting for the Gen 10 X1 Carbon - they put "coming soon" on their website. I suspect it's never coming back though. I really want a highly mobile 14" with 32gb/1tb and a 400 nit non-touch screen.

This deal for the P14s at a $1,000 seems too good to pass up though.

I work as an in-house IT, and the P14s model has so many problems!! We bought several of them since day one, and issues keep chasing us. like suddenly the wifi interface will disconnect, and they are either putting too much CPU power or too little heatsink power for the P14s, making the CPU fan continuously spin, leading to extremely poor battery runtime, maximum 2 hours. If it were my personal laptop, I would be so mad

That is a very interesting take.I have had less trouble with any ThinkPad I have ever had, but I have no experience with the "p" line.
If I wanted a mobile ThinkPad, in the 14" size and this price "area" (less than $2k definitely), do you have one you can recommend? I definitely want 32gb, 1tb, and run Linux (Ubuntu).
