Does anyone have an extra 10% coupon that you don't use? Please PM.
I created 3 different email accounts and signed up this morning, never received the code from Dell. Checked all folders - no luck

thanks
No need to create new email accounts just use temp email addresses services (try 2-3 different ones at the same time as coupon doesn't come to all of them who knows why..)

Do you thank the 6GB RTX4070 will be able to support 4K video editing, say Adobe Premiere Pro?

I disagree. HP Omen (5.4), Asus ROG (4.6), Lenovo Legion (5.6), etc are not this heavy, and typically have USB-PD so you don't have to lug around the 3lb brick. (total weight is close to 10 lbs)

I would say that the increased weight may be worth it for increased battery life, but you don't have Ryzen like with the Dell G15 5535.

Edit: My mistake, this 4070 model actually comes with thunderbolt 4 (not certified for PD), however the very common 4050 and 4060 G15s do not. Laptop is still a good bit heavier than the competition with no lighter charger.

More simply put: Comparable options from other manufacturers are typically 5.6lbs or lighter. Factor that into your decision making.

I have couple of Amex cards (Blue cache, everyday, Delta), and none is showing the 10% promotion for Dell. I guess this is mostly for card with high annual fees? Anyone can share if you see it in your Amex card with no annual fees? Thank you.

I just bought my second Dell G Series laptop and I think they're great for my use case. I rarely haul it around, so the weight isn't much of a factor for me. A big plus for me is power use. Sure, a desktop machine at the same price will perform better, but it likely uses nearly twice the energy.

For example, a Desktop 4070 GPU performs about 20-30% better than a Mobile 4070 (according to PassMark benchmarks) but the Desktop part has a Max TDP of 200W vs 115W for the mobile. The Desktop i9-13900K is about 25% faster than a i9-13900HX, but the Max TDP is 125W vs 55W.

Of course, actual power use is going to depend on the game, but for me, having a 25% slower machine is totally worth the huge power savings.

I'm currently playing Baldur's Gate 3 on my G15 5535 (Ryzen 7 7840HS/RTX 4060) on 4K Ultra settings (playing on external monitor, of course). Task Manager shows the GPU at 100% and the CPU around 35% typically. My Kill-A-Watt shows about 170W of use, not including the external monitor. A desktop GPU might use more power than that all on its own.

If you value portability, the Dell G Series might not be the best choice. The weight of the machine combined with its big power brick stretches the definition of portable (luggable?). If performance is king, perhaps a mini tower would make more sense. But there's a nice zone where performance, portability, power use, and price meet (that's a lot of 'P's), and the Dell G Series sits in it quite nicely, I think.

YMMV.
I have an Asus zephyrus G14 14" Ryzen 9 7840HS/RTX 4060) 16gb ddr5 same ram. This has a thunderbolt port is it worth returning the other it was 1000$ I can get this for 1015$

The Asus is certainly smaller, but if you can get the G16 for $15 more, that sounds like a good trade up for a 4070 and double the RAM.

I always like to remind folks to ask themselves if they really truly need a laptop. Are you going to travel with it? Carry it around the house? If not, seriously consider a mini tower instead. Better thermals/gpu performance/lifespan. And of course far more upgradeability.
I don't need a laptop. Any advice on good tower that can handle Steam games and Xbox games?

Just search for "4070 desktop" on here. I've had good experiences with the Legions.

An example:

I was distracted when I ordered.... I just noticed that my invoice includes:
Quote :
Dell Limited Hardware Warranty Initial Year $43.10
Onsite-In-Home Service After Remote Diagnosis 1 Year $24.01
McAfee+ Premium 1-year $30.79
I thought I declined all the add-on junk.... Or are these basically just junk fees that you cannot decline?

The first thing I will do when I receive the laptop it is to remove that McAfee malware. The Dell bloatware might go too, not sure if it offers any value.
