Interesting deal. It's previous gen, and the 3080ti is only slightly faster than a 4070. But it does have 16GB VRAM.

You'd be better off with a 4080 for gaming, no question, but for running generative/LLM AI applications locally the extra VRAM here might make this the better choice.

On the other hand, the RAM and the network card are soldered down. There are two M.2 SSD slots, but you have to remove the entire motherboard to get to them.

Not worth it. So many other better laptops out there for the same or cheaper. There's no point in 16GB of VRAM on such a weak, power limited GPU.

Somehow the BT 5.2 just struck me as oddly cheap for this laptop so I'll pass? Lol

There was a $2k laptop with a 4080 on here recently that would be a better pick. 1800 vs 2000 isn't that big a difference

There is currently a Gigabyte 4080 laptop on sale for $1680. There is currently an Acer Predator Helios 4080 on sale for $1850. Both of those have significantly better gaming performance than this laptop.

Anyone with some basic knowledge of laptops and its uses would know that vRAM does come into play especially when 3D modeling or rendering and other such scenarios. This is not just a gaming laptop to begin with, it's a creator laptop as well and the specs are geared towards that. Hence, the well calibrated display with 100% DCI-P3 and low-wattage 3080 Ti which is balanced for creating but also to game to an extent.

Gigabyte has an FHD display with low brightness and poorly calibrated display to create content on. Predator Helios is indeed comparable but even that doesn't have a 100% DCI-P3 rating. Those two are purely gaming laptops and for that are indeed the better pick, but for someone who is a heavy content creator and also a gamer, this laptop would be a better pick I'd say.

The 3080ti is significantly faster than the 4070 in general, not just in terms of VRAM. The mobile 4070 is very underwhelming and is more comparable to the 3070ti.

That's an interesting way to value it.
