Been looking at these vs the light strips that go behind the TV. For someone who has both, which would you recommend?

These would serve as an add on to the light strips. I have the light strips and purchased two play bars for the bottom of the TV but now regretting not getting the tube instead since it spans the length of the TV.

I have 2 play bars on the top of my 77" OLED and one 1 playbar on each side. I really like how it looks compared to a light strip behind the tv personally.

For the price I would look at govee. New model led with camera (t3 i think) supports matter.

Note this is the compact size. For TVs 60" and larger they recommend the large size.

So the camera is still on top of the tv? That was one of the reasons I decided against it.

I got an popup for $5 off if ordering using the Ebay mobile app.
I'm seeing at Amazon that the white version is $159 and then there is a 20% coupon for it making it ~$128. link [amazon.com]

Yes camera is still on top. The hue play box is an alternative and has some advantages like using whole room lighting. But the limitations were Dolby vision (I think this got fixed) and no way to integrate it with on board streaming. In my particular case netflix on Chromecast and an LG TV has its own set of issues (dimming and hdmi cec stuff).

Add having to purchase a new light strip with individual addressable LEDs and you are now looking at 4x the price if not more.

So yeah not a fan of the camera. But if privacy is your main concern then hopefully you know what you stream is already being logged via other means.

I believe samsung app (costs 100$) allows hue play bars to sync with the content being played on screen using software itself so no camera catching up/delay. It only works on samsung tvs after 2022 though.

I had the same coupon a few weeks ago, I think it's just random.
