This isn't a bad price for a 3060, but it's still not a great value. You can occasionally find new rx 6600, which are less than 10% slower in 1080p gaming, for $180 or under. New rx 6600xt, which are very slightly faster than the 3060 in 1080p gaming, can be found at $200 or under, though stock at those prices seems to have mostly dried up.

There are some downsides to an amd rdna2 card even in this price tier, namely a lack of dlss and cuda. The 12gb of vram is mostly pointless on the 3060, since it lacks the performance to adequately play games that would use anywhere near that much. Likewise, the raytracing advantage is moot in this performance tier.

Ultimately, even at $245, unless you have non-gaming workloads that the 3060 would be beneficial for, at this price tier you would be better off getting an amd card.

The peanut gallery can never compare apples and oranges. They'll measure new prices vs used then whine about condition / warranty on used vs new. They want everything both ways. Said thing is they are still running a 8800 GTX waiting for that 'next' card to release

BTW, are we still saying "hOlD tHe LiNe BoYz" or is that over?

How does this compare to a 6650XT 8GB? Downgrade?

How many years has this model been out now? The GPU space really needs more competition. Imagine posting on Slickdeals about a nearly MSRP price on an Intel 7600k CPU. This is just embarrassing. This generation tech should have been obsolete paperweight by now. Not throwing shade on this deal just an observation of the state of graphic accelerators in the last 10 years. Astronomical pricing coupled with slow progress compared to about any other tech

For gaming yes. with very few exceptions. Old remake raytraced games like quake and portal being some of them

Based on tax in my area, this would cost roughly $270.

I would rather do this, tax free in my area for $290.

Great deal for a 3060. I had the same 3060 whenever I built my gaming PC a few months back, then upgraded to a 3070ti. Never had any issues with it and loved the performance.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank maltamonk

When I see "great deal" @ $245 for a "3060" I think of the "great deal" for the lulu lemon fanny packs for $40. I mean..yeah okay it used to be more, but that's not really a deal. That's just ppl paying too much and not knowing better...or worse buying for the name alone. Next month's "great price" will be the $30 Stanley cups

I got a 2070 Super and it's probably 3-4 Years old or more from used FB MP. Wondering if it's a big change to pay for performance on a R7 3700x

I wouldn't waste your money. Unless you care for dlss and raytracing then go for it. But performance, depending on the game, the cards perform very similar

For me it's too many unknowns with a used video card. Buying new is worth quite a bit more to me because you don't have to worry about how it was used/stored, if it was used for mining, etc.

Seems like a good deal to me if you're not looking to play AAA titles for years to come.
I have never had a video card die. I keep them far too long. They get passed to wife then child then other child to an other family. I bought new and used.

Oh wow, thank you, I didn't know the performance was similar. I'm curious if my card would fetch a good price to subsidize a better upgrade.

What the heck is going on in this thread?

Of course a 3060 priced at $250 is a good deal.

It has nothing to do with your personal opinion of how much it should cost. That's what the market is dictating, so that's why they're still $300 on average. This is the capitalism you voted for, so live with it.

As for comparisons to other cards, yes, we know there are Radeons with similar performance for less. You don't have to repeat this on every thread. Some of us need CUDA or want to run stable diffusion without pulling our hair out.

Speaking of stable diffusion, that's one reason you'd want the 12GB card over the 8GB. Not everything is about gaming performance.

And for the "is this going to be better than my 8 year old card" people: What do you wager?

1080 ti's can be sold for around 160-200 on the used market. I recently just picked up a few at a 160 each. Making a budget build for my nephews.
