This might be the best 85"+ tv under $1000*. If there's a better, I haven't found it and I've been looking for weeks. If something doesn't come along by 3/31 this is what I'm getting.

*Not that it's the be all end all, just a good TV for the price.

Have had this for a few months and really like. I think it may have gotten down to $900 previously but don't quote me. I've mounted many tvs in my day but this was the hardest as it's incredibly heavy and unwieldy.

Agreed. Above 50 pounds gets difficult. Anything above 75 is risky on wall mounting as there isn't much wiggle room in the back.
that being said this a good deal for this size and a good TV. be sure to see it on display. I considered it but it was a little dim for my sunny room. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/ur8000

I'm in the same boat as you. Looking for a 85" around 1k. I already have a 75 so I'm willing to wait till the end of the year.

However I also am keeping my eye on TCL which I feel are the best bang for your buck nowadays.

I've been eyeing this one which regularly falls in the $900 range:

TCL 85-Inch Q6 QLED 4K Smart TV with Google TV, Streaming UHD, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, HDR Pro+, Game Accelerator Enhanced Gaming, Voice Remote, Compatible with Alexa (85Q650G, 2023 Model) https://a.co/d/1rWX5k4

And maybe.. Just maybe this one will drop to 1200 at the end of the year but that's wishful thinking lol:

TCL 85-Inch Q7 QLED 4K Smart TV with Google (85Q750G, 2023 Model) Dolby Vision, Atmos, HDR Ultra, 120Hz, Game Accelerator up to 240Hz, Voice Remote, Works Alexa, Streaming UHD Television https://a.co/d/2qU3Uyk

Rtings gives these good reviews for the price I'm looking at.

I saw, I think on Amazon, that the Q6 was regularly returned and often people said it was slow. I have a Chromecast to plug into it, but there seemed to be a lot of returns due to hardware, so I've pretty much eliminated that as an option.

Ah I see. Didn't look into returns. I use Nvidia Shield so not worried about it being slow. Current on a 5yr old LG so I'm sure any 85" I get now will feel like an upgrade. I still got plenty of time myself. I do give this deal big point for it coming from Costco w/warranty. I'm with Sam's so I can appreciate that on expensive electronics.

Edit: Just saw this was 120hz. So yeah this is definitely a better deal. I have Amazon money so I need it from there ugh.

For what it's worth, the 86" is also an IPS panel, so it should have slightly better viewing angles than the smaller ones since they use VA panels.

So this is probably going to be a dumb question to video files. I've been out of touch for the newer tech in TV's for some time. On an LG like this one, it offers the things I see most recommending such as HDMI 2.1 and 120hz, but only mentions doing HDR10 and not Dolby Vision or HDR10+ like the Hisense U7k or TCL Q7 models. Are HDR10+ or Dolby Vision better versions of HDR10 processing for video? Kinda like different versions of audio like Dolby 5.1, TrueHD audio, Dolby Atmos, etc. If so, is it a big enough loss to not have the capability of Dolby Vision and HDR10+?
I'm going to be upgrading from a 70" Vizio 1080p model I bought at least 8 years ago, so I'm sure the quality will be noticeably better. Mostly stream sports and movies. Thanks for the input everyone!

This is a really nice mid-range set. IPS for good viewing angles...120 hz...well-reviewed...BRAND NAME. You could spend a lot more. A lot of people knock IPS for contrast, but you need it if their are a lot of people watching at once.

I paid Costco $30 to set up this TV (unbox and place on top of a 5 foot high wall unit). The two delivery men said they would not do that. A Costco rep refunded my setup fee and said the delivery persons are not allowed to lift TVs higher than their waists. I responded that if that is your policy, you should put that on your site when describing what setup includes. Just an FYI for anyone purchasing setup.

I do realize that. My question was is not having those a big deal? Is it similar to audio options like a mentioned as a preference point people may have or is it a noticeable loss to not have the ability to do Dolby Vision or HDR10+? I'm not worried about atmos since I'd use a different streaming device.
