I do realize that. My question was is not having those a big deal? Is it similar to audio options like a mentioned as a preference point people may have or is it a noticeable loss to not have the ability to do Dolby Vision or HDR10+? I'm not worried about atmos since I'd use a different streaming device.
To me, I think HDR and local dimming is the most noticeable new feature that has come around in recent years. It allows the TV to get really bright in some areas, but really dark in others. The effect is very noticeable, and with HDR and a bright TV, your TV can recreate more interesting colors like neons. Me and my son will occasionally play xbox games together in the same room. He gets to play on a 4K 75" Samsung QLED with local dimming that gets very bright and I play on a standard computer monitor (no HDR) connected to the XBOX. Seeing them side by side, it's incredibly obvious how much more vivid the TV is.
However, this is an 86" TV with good picture quality for under $1000. You have to give up something. To get the HDR effect and extra brightness you would easily spend 1.5x - 2x the price. We also have a 4K 75" LG in our bedroom that does not have local dimming and I still watch things on it just fine.

Thanks for the input. I did have to buy a new TV for the bedroom last year, but just went with a lower end Hisense 55". It does HDR and Dolby Vision, but is a direct lit panel. I guess my biggest decision if I stick in this price range is something like this LG with 120hz and only HDR, but no HDR+ or Dolby Vision vs something like a TCL Q6 that can't do 120hz, but can do HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Both are direct lit panels though. I'd love to go for the Q7 or Hisense U7, but you're right, getting every feature bumps an extra $500 in the price. If it got down around $1,100 it would be more tempting for sure!
Agreed. Above 50 pounds gets difficult. Anything above 75 is risky on wall mounting as there isn't much wiggle room in the back.
that being said this a good deal for this size and a good TV. be sure to see it on display. I considered it but it was a little dim for my sunny room. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/ur8000
