Out of curiosity and a lack of knowledge, why are so many brands using 12-point when it's been shown to be a problem on the most common 6-point bolts(stripping). I rarely run into a 12-point bolt unless it's on a British engineered brake caliper.

Because in tight spaces you may not have the angle to give up. Someone can do the math, but a 12 point gives you a much better range of engagement. Think ratchets that brag about 3-5 degree ranges of engagement. This is for people working in very tight spaces.

6 point is nice for ratcheting wrenches and sockets. Not always for regular wrenches.
