Bought this "refurb" last year and received a new unit. Very nice for the price.

be aware multiple people are reporting not receiving all the accessories included in these refurbs, check the parts list in the instruction manual to be sure.

I was one of those people. No one will replace it. To return the unit, you either have to drop it off at a fedex shipping center (not a standard store) or have FedEx schedule a pickup 2-3 business days in advance.

I thought units like these were not fixable once they stop working

Bought this last time it came up (I think even at $240)

All has been well so far. I think I was missing the "air divider" to attach at the end of the hose or got an updated piece instead.

I have one. Dual hose is the way to go, though 'portable' is a bit generous. These things weigh a ton and have the flimsiest, most stupidly designed plastic parts for attaching to the window, that they'll likely break and you'll have to fix something yourself with screws and latches. I did all this because I was using it for my office on the first floor and didn't feel comfortable leaving it set up in the window permanently for security reasons.

Still, beats having a hot room. And if you're on a second floor and don't mind leaving it attached permanently, it's not a bad solution.
