You can create virtual monitors and profiles that contain the different virtual monitors. When I'm trying to be productive I can switch my ultra wide from having 3 VMs to 4 with a hotkey. There's a ton of stuff this software has that I haven't even touched but yes you can also change lock screen wallpapers for each screen as well as desktop wallpapers. There's some stuff with macros in here as well to reposition your windows. It's quite robust.
For example, I have multiple desktop windows snapping profiles in Display Fusion. And for each one of them, I have a different audio output set. So when I do my keyboard shortcut to switch profiles, it also switches the audio. Stuff like that makes Display Fusion super worth it.
Also, I got a discount for the license like 6 years ago, and they have never once, to my knowledge, put new features behind an additional paywall.
With that said, most of what it offers can be done with feature specific free tools (alternativeto.net is a great resource for finding replacement software).
What you're paying for with DisplayFusion is the convenience factor of having it be a one stop shop.
You can pin items to each toolbar independently, and change where everything is positioned or hide certain toolbar features that you couldn't normally hide.
I wish it was a core Windows feature. I've been using DisplayFusion for a decade now and it's hard to go back to a system that doesn't have it installed when you have multiple monitors.
There's a bunch of other features as well, but that's the one that is irreplaceable for me.

Also, just to elaborate on the way this is licensed: You need to install via Steam and keep it open for at least 10 minutes in order for it to remain activated.
Once you have enough usage on it with Steam open, you no longer need to have Steam running in order for Display Fusion to launch (including running it in startup).
This is great if you have a multi-user system and want everyone to run Display Fusion, as it means they don't need access to your Steam account.
