Who uses suits now a days? I went to an interview and out of 5 candidates including myself there was one person in a suit, it was super awkward and you could tell the interviewer was about to laugh but held it together.
Was it at McDonald's?

A "real" suit minimum would be something like from Jos. A. Bank. FOr $119 on clearance - they're always on clearance btw, get a traveler collection or a 1905 line. I actually prefer the 97/3% wool to spandex for a bit of stretch nowadays, it doesn't sound like you are shuffling sheets of paper like the OP polyester suits. Its something that can last more than two wears, and not fall apart dry cleaninig. Be aware of loose seams, buttons or threads, which are common on all cheaper suits.

I was about to ask the same thing. Lol

Seems unprofessional to laugh at the person.

Are there other materials for suits? I'm allergic to wool and evidently going by the comments on here anything else is rubbish......so where does that leave me?

spier and Mackay makes a $250 suit that is incredible quality for the price
just checked their site and couldn't find it under sale or full priced suits.
Is the $250 only for end of the year sale or something?

It's their red line - they run $50 off deals often. If you fit the cut (fits my dad bod well, it's generous and designed for tailoring) it's a fantastic deal. Mine just needed jacket work and a tapered leg.

I applied for a dishwasher position in a suit in the early 2000s. I go by the mindset of dress for the job you want, not the one on the table.

Ended up an assistant manager before I was 18.

Can you link to a high-quality suit for $80? Slickdealers obviously care about saving money, and some people only wear suits once or twice a year.
Not even once or twice a year.. The last time I wore a suit was 10 years ago, at my wedding.. and I borrowed the suit from my father-in-law.. 🤣

Do you still wear a 100% wool suit in the summer? I have a summer event that requires a suit. I never dress up for anything so I don't know.
Is the event outdoors??

Agreed everyone criticizes like 3 dollar tshirts and says there not modal comparing to 20$ tshirts. The comment about if you need a cheap suit is spot on. A cheap suit that fits well is better than a nicer suit that fits terribly. Most of us buy it and can't fit into it by the time we need it!🤣

Interviewer was probably laughing because they'd never had to make an easier decision.

Adults wear them.

I wear them frequently, usually without a tie these days. I wear them when pitching large consulting jobs. I wore one last week for my high school son's banquet. I wore one last month to a baptism. I wear them to charity events. I wear them to my work holiday parties. I will wear one to church with my family in 2 weeks on Easter. The attorneys I work with almost always wear them.

I'm a hiring manager and have interviewed hundreds of people. I've never laughed at someone for wearing a suit - that's ridiculous. Probably 25% of the candidates I interview these days wear a suit to interviews (mostly software development, architect and leadership roles).

I'm guessing you were interviewing for an entry level retail job? That's about the only time I can think a candidate would even see any other candidates.

When I interviewed for Tesla back in November I was one of only 2 people out of 60+ that was wearing a suit. It pretty much guaranteed me the job and I got many compliments for wearing it.
