If this discount is based of the Affordable Connectivity Program discount then it runs out end of April unless congress extends funding

Internet Essentials is many years older than the Affordable Connectivity Program and has been the best bargain there is for broadband.

In the first years, a child in the house was required. Then later it was expanded to the elderly. If it is now open to all low income, it is news to me.

During Covid they were approving households based on zip code for low income Spectrum $18/month 30 mbps plan that I was grandfathered into - presently $25/month for 60 Mbps.

This program is not based on ACP. Internet essentials is a separate deal to provide internet for low income households. You can still openly apply for Internet essentials with xfinity. It's $9.95 a month for 50 Mbps

You can no longer apply for ACP
This is correct, as long as you haven't had xfinity for previous 90 days and meet one of the requirements stated in OP you can get it.

Who is eligible for Internet Essentials?

You may qualify if you:

• Live in an area where Xfinity Internet service is available
• Qualify for programs like the National School Lunch Program, housing assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, and others, or are enrolled in the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) with Xfinity
• Have not had Xfinity Internet within the last 90 days (unless enrolled in ACP with Xfinity)*
• Have no outstanding debt to Comcast that is less than one year old*

*Waived for new Xfinity Internet customers until June 30, 2024, regardless of their enrollment in ACP.

According to the new fcc guidelines anything under 100mbps down isn't broadband anymore.

I have had the $10 internet from Xfinity for a few years now. It works just fine for me and my son. We game on Xbox and stream from various devices. 50mbps is fine.

I paid full price for mine. The speeds are fine. I have switches on the wifi, Netflix tv, games, etc for a family of 4.

No it's not. Anyone that has help can apply. And it runs all year.

More than enough.

HD video takes 5 MBPS, for example.

The real deal is it comes with unlimited data, where people paying for 1200mb gets raped by monthly data cap if you use your own modem.
