By the time that your next ink arrives, the printer could start experiencing mechanical or software errors.
Let it be somebody else's problem at that point and get a new unit.
Why do printers keep getting less and less reliable? Ink and toner getting more and more expensive, limited, and lower quality. It's like you buy a car, but you can buy gas Only from certain gas station... (not a good analogy for electric cars since they actually did that. But you get the idea)
Does this at lead have single pass two sided scan?
Would never buy an HP today.

I bought this as I do very little printing and my 12 year old printer finally gunked up the heads enough it needed replace. Purchased this per the details above, set it up, and during the setup process it does not recognize the color ink cartridge.
Talk to HP tech support, they basically say they won't help unless you subscribe to their instant ink account. That's right, a subscription ink service. No thanks.
Talk to someone else at HP Tech support, they even take control of my computer to make sure I installed the printer right. They determine I did, and determine the smart color cartridge is not registering correctly causing my problems. Even though the printer is brand new they deny being able to send out replacement ink, stating that this is just the startup ink, and to go purchase other ink to make it work.
So, that sucks, get on amazon, have to buy HP brand ink because again, they put smart chips in the ink. It shows up 2 days late, go to put the color ink cartridge in the printer. Printer ink level reads it and goes to full. Then I go to finish the setup of the printer and get an error message, that I do not have the initial ink sent with the printer installed, and that is the only way to finish the setup process. Again, it will not let me setup with the ink I purchased, and it will not let me setup with the ink that came with it (because it was defective and they refused to replace it)
Also, costs $15 to mail back this printer to qvc for my refund of $30.
Epson here I come....
