They don't ship these combos. Also, the deal is ongoing for months...

If you're building a computer for gaming and already going to microcenter, get the 5800x3d bundle for the same price instead. Better in almost every game with less power used as well. If you're playing simulation, turn based games, this 3d cache can be up to 100% faster.

The 12700k only makes sense if you're using it for the extra productivity.

Realistically though, your best bang for the buck is going to be ponying up just $40 more and getting the 7700x bundle so you can be on the am5 platform with 32gb of ddr5.

Keep hearing issues about them AMD bundles with them low end motherboards. I would get the Intel one. I'm sure you won't even notice a difference in games unless you use a fps graph

The TUF b550 is by no means a low end board. Looks better than the Intel board too IMO.

The issue with the bundles used to be the cl36 ram used in the am5 bundles. They upgraded that to cl32 and it has been fine.

But, the $370 7700x bundle is a better buy than both of these, so I would buy that.

How does the AMD processor overclock vs the intel one? I have a 10700k @ 5.1 ghz for the past few years just humming along. Would this combo or the AMD 5800 be comparable or blow mine away? I game mostly, but also do a lot of 3d slicing for 3d printing.

I recently got the 7700x bundle with the MSI B650-P board and cl32 ram. No issues. I did update to the newest bios.

What issues I've seen reported relate to the 7800x3d bundle. The motherboard in the 5800x3d bundle is a solid platform. The only drawback is that the socket is EOL. Ymmv in how important that is.

There's zero reason to do an Intel build right now unless you need something specific (I honestly have no clue what those would be) that only Intel offers. The current Intel platform is dead. The current AMD platform should get at least one or two more upgrades.

These days, it's mostly ram issues, not mobo issues. I've had the 7700X bundle since August (with the "lowly" B650-P board) and other than the cruddy ram (which I swapped to a better kit and returned the bundled ram) it's been amazing. They've recently swapped the ram out to something better, so the ram issues should be a lot better, if not solved completely

Read the reviews about the bundle on Micro Center website.

Pretty sure Intel is still better CPU wise if building a Plex server.

How does the 7700X handle video editing? For background, the quality of the footage can range up to 8K, heavy editing done in post, historically large files average ~1hr long videos produced. Curious to know if this chip will handle it or if it makes more sense to spend the extra $30 for the Intel Core i9-12900K bundle.

B650-P isn't low end just a basic look. VRM, feature set, rear ports are all solid mid tier that can run for a few generations untile PCIe 5.0 actually is a thing

I don't know if that's an area where AMD will ever catch up. So that's why I didn't mention it.

Like the other comment I quoted, I don't think that's an area where AMD will ever catch up to Intel. So I'd go with the Intel. And you've got all the way up to the 14th gen for drop in CPU's, so you'll be set for a while, if/when you need something beefier than the 12900K!

For your use case, you would see a pretty strong performance uplift in the activities you listed (gaming and slicing)! Especially gaming if you play competitive fps types like Valorant or cs2, the performance difference will be very big!

I honestly look forward to Intel's release of similar 3d cache technology on their cards. Their CEO addressed this in a recent interview and stated they will be bringing it in future CPU's. It's exciting to say the least!
