As someone who has 3 different laptops from work including 16 m1 max with 64gb of RAM and 14 inch m1 pro with 32 GB of RAM, this 13 inch one is the one I'm constantly bringing around with me when I travel or work from coffee shops.

Absolutely amazing machine: I used to have issues with 50+ tabs in Firefox but then switched to Edge and the performance is back to perfect.

Anything from Photoshop to Excel to Davinci resolve works perfectly fine on this machine, but you need to be careful with browser tabs or use some decent browser that's good at managing memory.

Light, portable (probably the best form factor out of all recent Macs) and pretty capable overall

Glad these look like they've finally dropped under $700. What an insanely good value retention by Apple even after 2 years.

Picked one up for my wife so I can steal her ThinkPad X1 and retire my 15 year old T61. 👍

If I bought one december 20 2023 and if I buy another today, can I return the unopened unit I purchase today in place of the open 2.75 months used one? same color and model, would that work?
No Macs have unique serial numbers tied to the purchase receipt. Costco or any retailer have that information and will know.

If you bought it through Costco you're still within their 90-day return policy. Ask if they can adjust the price or return it and buy the new one at the sale price.

If you bought it somewhere else you're SOL. Don't think many credit cards have purchase protection anymore.

over 3 yrs old. 8GB/256GB is a joke even in 2020.
1. Mac show their age slower than PCs. A 3 year Apple Silicon Mac is still excellent. In fact users of the M1 probably would not notice the increased power of the M3 model. The M1 is that good.

2. 8GB/256GB is fine for its intended user -- basic business type apps, web browsing, etc. Apple sells "Pro" models with higher RAM and graphics abilities if that is what you need. The MBA has never been a multi-media type laptop. There are also 16GB MBA M1 models floating around if one wants the MBA footprint w/ more RAM.

3. But, back to this model. At $650, the build quality and usability of this M1 MBA is unmatched by any PC laptop at this price. This is a solid deal for anyone looking for a fast business laptop with no interest in editing video or photos, 3D CAD, or some esoteric scientific experiment.

Not sure what site you are looking at but when I go to Apple dot com the MBA page page has a red "New" next to the M3 model and below that mentions the M2 model, which is not discontinued. Then when you hit the "buy" button there is a clear option to select either the M2 or M3 model. Just be sure you are not going to a fake website.

Instacart shows many in stock. For gold color in my area. I'd check the app first and drop by locally

Well said! At $650, it still outperforms any new windows notebook at the same price point

Do I need to get apple care for this product or Costco's 2 year warranty is ok?
