Note that this ASRock motherboard DOES NOT have an M.2 slot, so you'll either have to go with a standard 2.5" SSD or 3.5" HDD, although I suppose you could add an M.2 card to either the X1 or X4 PCIe slot to avoid power and data cabling.
This mATX motherboard has only 2 expansion slots, making it only slightly larger than an mITX board - it will fit in a couple of mITX cases including the Thermaltake V1 and the Cooler Master Elite 130, although it will prevent a standard 3.5" HDD from being installed on the floor of the Elite 130. Note that the X4 slot is is at the EDGE of the motherboard, so a 2 slot expansion card (i.e. GPU) will NOT fit in either of these cases.
This is a low-feature motherboard for sure (2X RAM slots, 2X PCIe slots, no M.2, a single 4 pin fan header, NO USB-C, and only a single USB header) but might work well with this Intel processor for a NAS, server, or other home network appliance.
I'm running an older gen version of this motherboard with a Pentium Gold low TDP processor as an always-on server, and it works well for me.

I love my setup, no issues playing League or Borderlands 3 or Minecraft (I usually play low settings). I had weird lag with gta v though. It took a few minutes to burn through a few billion calculations and working with video stuff is usually not the fastest, so it's definitely not a work horse.
Edit:Woops.
The DDR4 version of the above mobo is $59.

Add $7 for an x1 M.2 adapter.
