These are "officially licensed" "Estwing" hammers made in India. I'm sure it's a good tool, but you can get Indian steel all day at this price or less.

Yup...Harbor Freight's forged tools are mostly from India these days, other brands are made in Mexico or China...so the 10lb sledge with fiber glass handle (SKU: 94060) is $29.99 If you are lucky and can wait you might even find yourself a coupon to get it even lower.

So not a great deal unless you aren't close to a HFT store, have a brand preference, or want all the tools in your garage to match. I would want to believe that the Estwing has 'Engineered in America' quality material in it but who can be too sure about that. That being said HFT warranty is pretty easy to fulfill, not sure how much of a hassle Estwing would be. A lot of Estwing products are now being made over seas now...but anymore almost all the brands still charge you the 'Made in America' price after offshoring their manufacturing. I understand being competitive and I also understand taking advantage of people. I think price conscious consumers are figuring it out.

there are some complex tools that i might care about the quality of the metal, poissibly some cooking metals.

but a hammer? who cares if the metal is lower teir metal, as long as it is hardened and im not striking diamonds with it, i doubt it would break. the handle breaking might be a thing, but as long as the plastic/fiberglass is thick enough, i dont think it would be a problem for a long long long time...

im a manual labaror, and use hammers to drive stakes, bust concrete pipes, and more, and i really dont think the quality on this would be bad enough in any way to be afraid to smash something....

now if the price concerns are right and can get it cheaper elsewhere, then this is a bad deal on that grounds still....

And a 10lb sledge hammer as well. I simply can't imagine the head breaking on any sledge hammer. And even if the face got a little deformed it would still work perfectly fine as a sledge hammer.

ssshhh! You're trashing some expensive marketing copy here. Same folks that bother to title ordinary pressure washers as a "Cold Water Pressure Washer", like you've seen anything else ever promoted here…

Just a remember, never hit a hammer with a hammer... energy transfer + failure can become catastrophic.

I wouldn't be worried about the head itself, but cheap hammers can loosen up at the handle to head joint which gets annoying for accuracy and lost energy and will eventually fail. I have rehandled my wood handled blacksmith hammers before but doubt that is really practical for a fiberglass demo hammer. That being said this deal should be a quality unit that will last a long time.

Got mine delivered today after ordering from the other deal. This thing is even more gargantuan than I'd pictured. I thought it'd be a good for when my little 3lb sledge isn't enough to smack old rotors free, but this 10lb seems like it'd send the entire car into space. I suppose it's time to redo my kitchen...

If you don't put "cold water" in pressure washer posts then some kid always complains that a $50 electric pressure washer from Lidl doesn't output 400,000 BTU's of heat per hour as if that is a deal breaker. They'll say 'just spend a little bit more on...." then point to something that costs $2K and is no way comparable to the original item.

You know, standard modus operandi for the local peanut gallery Wink

"Accuracy" and "10LB Demolition Sledgehammer" have never been used in the same conversation....until today.

a shop press should push out the eye region of the handle / sledge hole interface. just need some of them circular metal "eye" nails/spreaders/tighteners. put on a hickory maul handle and keep going!
