So the 7800X3D is better than this 7900X3D, is that right? I am always reading that the 7800X3D is the "best" CPU for gaming. Is there anything the 7900X3D is better at? Why was it made then?

And what about 7950X3D vs 7900X3D?

You can literally type into Google 7900X3D vs 7800X3D and you'll see plethora of testing sites that cover many different types of games and applications and see which one is best suited for your needs. No recent to rely on random strangers opinion here on a deal site.

Well said, people should do the research themselves, it's not that difficult. You never know how knowledgeable someone really is that's giving you advice in a post here.

If you're deciding between the 7850X3D and the 7900X3D for gaming, you might want to lean towards the 7850X3D. It's pretty straightforward with its single 8-core die setup, and it will give you smooth and consistent performance across the board.

The 7900X3D, with its two 6-core dies (CCDs) and selective 3D cache which only works on one CCD, effectively utilizes only 6 cores while gaming versus 8 on the 7850X3D. It also uses game detection, and it can be hit or miss depending on the game and whether the Xbox Game Bar game detection plays nicely.

Plus, you won't need to worry too much about manual tuning to get the best out of the 7850X3D. Just something to consider if you're looking for the best gaming performance without the extra hassle. Cheers!

Here's my summary:

If you're into games, and primarily want to play games, the 7800x3d is the one you want right now - it still tops all the game benchmark performance charts, and uses remarkably little power. On special, it's also cheaper - though you'll likely need a new motherboard..

The 7900x3d is a bit better for non-gamers. Benchmarks on stuff like file compression or video conversion will go something like 20% faster on that chip for some benchmarks - since it DOES have more cores. The reason it doesn't work as well in games is because they didn't package the memory on the chip so the cores can switch efficiently - so it's great at bulldozing on single-minded work, but really dynamic content like most games, it builds up a bit of lag switching tasks.

I went 7800x3d, since I needed a new motherboard anyway - it's my first primary system that I put AMD in. I haven't had any issues with it, combined with a Nvidia 3080.

coupon is dead for me. Regardless, Microcenter is $389 [microcenter.com] We even have an open-box at our store for $332
If you want to build a 7800x3D @ $349, [microcenter.com] their bundle is a no brainer @ $469 [https]
