Heya, a few suggestions since I've been there, nausea'd that:

Do short sessions, like 20-30 minutes max.
When you have an option to 'teleport vs. smoothly walk somewhere, take the teleport option.
Many games have additional "comfort" options; consider activating those
In general, if you're standing still in the VR world and creatures or things are coming at you, you're gonna be fine. The challenge happens when you're moving through VR-land and your brain gets confused that your motion in that world isn't matching what you're doing with your legs.
So some people have found that actually walking in place can help (though I never tried that).
Lastly, a lot of us oddly have found that positioning a table fan or any fan really on us while we're VR'ing can stave off motion sickness.

But the most important advice out of all of that is really just taking it slow. Trying a bit more each day and easing into things over a week or two. At least for me, it took me nearly two weeks to feel generally comfortable with most VR games and I was definitely initially queasy when starting out!

Good luck! Smilie

P.S. -- Some games where you're barely moving at all can be a great way to spend your time in VR, like Gadgeteer or the new Humanity game.
I own all of these and bought off of recommendations from here on prior sales, all are very good, just depends on what you are into.

I just got a Quest 3 last month, but didn't really use it for anything other than media watching. It is comfortable just laying down in bed to watch a movie. I tried Asgard's Wrath II but got motion sickness within 3 minutes and just left it. Gave me such a bad experience, I didn't really purchase anything (other than Virtual Desktop).

Any recommendations for games that'll suit someone who doesn't have 'VR-legs'?

Eleven Table Tennis is one of my favorites. Makes it feel like there's a real table in front of you.

Does anyone know if the code is one time use? Do I need to add like 8 things to my cart (new vr user) at once or can I come back and still use the coupon?

Multi use code

  • Beat Saber
  • I Expect You To Die
  • Moss
  • Pistol Whip
  • Superhot VR
  • Walkabout Mini Golf

Good advice here. I also had really bad nausea when I first got into vr. The short sessions was the biggest thing for me. Play until I started feeling a tinge of nausea which usually only took 10-15 min. Stop immediately and take a break to do something else for a while. After some time doing this, you build up a tolerance. A fan also helps me.

The other points are also good tips.

Agreed, I felt the exact same way. Honestly seemed like I had wasted my money on games I couldn't play. Definitely something you have to ease into the first time around.

You might need games that allow teleporting. Off the top of my head Red Matter and the Last ClockWinder didn't cause me problem. Same with Myst and Fisherman's Tale.

Is this a deal?? LMAO. Tons of people are willing to buy VR games for you with 50% off because they cannot burn those free referral credits before they expire. Plus, every game is originally 25% off with referral link

Beat Saber is beginner friendly. You just stand and swing your arms. It's a really good game too. One of my favorites
