Got one off of auction site for $50 with a broken plastic collar. Collar was just $8 from Moen. Really easy DIY solder installation. No bypass needed. Just keep the spacer tube and use it to replace a failed unit by turning of the main water supply, removing the Flo and putting the spacer in its place.

Has been working perfectly for about 6 months. Test mode came up with a tiny leak at a toilet that I quickly fixed. Have to put in sleep mode before the wife washes her long hair, or it thinks there is a leak and sends a warning before shutting off the water. The Flo tests itself each night by shutting off for about a minute and then turning on again. it does buzz as it turns on and off.

Moen changed the impeller design to reduce the problems of rusting that users report. Even if you get rust on the impeller, it is a really simple fix, or just replace it with an $8 kit from Moen.

Our insurance company offers about 25% off for these, but the negative reviews are overwhelming! The Home Depot listing for this is littered with bad reviews.

I've had mine for over 4 years, no issues and it has saved me from both my laundry room and kitchen getting flooded in two separate occasions. Plus probably about a hundred other times when a toilet handle or flapper gets stuck. I wouldn't hesitate buying a new one if my current one dies.

I would rather spend $500 again, than go through the hassle that is insurance claims in my state and then getting dropped from my carrier for having filed a claim.

I bought this earlier today. My water company has a $100 rebate as well. Check your local water provider and they may have one too. I haven't checked but some home owners insurance I've read give a discount when installing these.

Are these Moen leak sensors worth anything? Amazon has 1" model with extension cord for $385

Who wants to be 99% of the bad reviews of people who has no idea how to install one, probably causing water damage in the process?

Sometimes you really need to take into account the competency of the reviewer, especially with items that were NOT designed with DIY in mind. You also see this trend a lot with mini splits. Your average homeowner isn't going to know how to even measure copper....let alone successfully add something inline to it.

This is the kind of product that people who live by the expression "I know enough to be dangerous" gravitate towards then unsurprisingly have horrible results with.

Hello. May I know what auction site you purchased it from? Ebay? Thank you.

I read into the reviews it seems some think it's due to heavy sediments in the water building up on the impeller. I was thinking about installing a sediment filter before the valve. Maybe it will help extend some of my other appliances or water heater too.

I really want one of these, but I am not confident I won't have issues based on my pipe size. My supply line is at least 1", the inlet and outlet at my meter is 5/8" and then the line on the house side of the water meter is over 1".

Are the sizes referenced for each model for the supply line side of the meter? Am I correct in thinking I'm SOL unless I can convince my utility to swap my meter to a larger one to get rid of the fittings to and from 5/8" at the meter?

Been waiting over 4 months for this deal. Thanks OP

No water company rebate in my city but my insurance gives $130 off per year for "whole house automatic water shut off" devices.

Black Friday lowest price was $400 for 3/4 inch version with no water leak devices. Lowest I've seen is 280-300 for this device in the last 6 months. Costco is giving 2 water leak devices on top which makes it quite slick

Discount is apparently a manufacturer discount but the only other site that was doing special pricing is Amazon. Pricing not as good and bundle option is different.

I prefer the flume water monitor from flumewater dot com
While it does not automatically turn off water supply, it is excellent at alerting on leaks, high usage, creating budgets, and just overall usage monitoring.
No cutting of pipes, fits around your water meter. A bridge connects to your wifi and the flume sensor on water meter talks to bridge.
App is great and their support via chat is excellent.
Seems much more versatile and less expensive.

Curious about this as well. Had homeowner insurance issues and at least one company required this but I ended up going with another company. The negative reviews were concerning to me plus having to hire someone to install it. I see my water company does have a rebate so maybe worth considering again

Maybe I'll look into this. Seems less permanent
