Please note the PC in the OP doesn't have a Thunderbolt port, and as such can't be used with an eGPU.

I usually have hit or miss luck with Minisforum products but the NAD9 is actually excellent for me. I have two in a home lab hosting Proxmox virtual machines. They are nearly silent both under load and not under load (though beware it is because the thermal limits are set a little low in the BIOS, around 50W continuous. It can be adjusted as well as the fan curve if you want more noise and higher sustained performance).

I've not had any sudden shutdowns or other problems that commonly plague Minisforum machines.

Looks like a decent box, I have a min-pc (14th gen i5) for my new plex box. Working great and cost $100 more.
Any benefit of a 14th gen i5 over a 12th gen i9?

I'm using an older AMD 5700 XT. Plays anything I throw at it at 1080p.

I figure once APUs get to a even better state in a few years, I'll get rid of my TB3 enclosures completely.

Oculink if that gets adoption might be another route I take.

Something like this would work out pretty well too: https://www.gpd.hk/gpdg1graphics
Looks cool and should work well but that price tag is pretty insane.

I've used several of these MiniForums boxes before and they have all been great. I currently have the HX90 (Ryzen9 5900HX) as our home theater/streaming PC - no complaints. Would definitely grab one of these if i needed another one at this price!

Anything that doesn't require a good GPU. I would be more than happy with one of these for audio production.

It's just a computer, you can make it whatever you want it to be as long as you configure it righbt.

Easier to cool, should be about the same performance but I'd buy this and save a bit of cash as mine sits in the basement and it's considerably cooler down there.

and feedback and comments on the HX80G?
i am actually thinking about getting one to replay my dGPU mobile workstation, because any work i do on the laptop would send the fan to run at a annoy rate. i was hoping things like HX80G could be a pretty good idea if the cooling and noise is under control
