Deal Details
$11.19 for frozen Impossible burger patties, regularly $13.99.
  • Requires a (free) Target Circle membership and online clipped coupon.
  • Pickup or curbside pickup only. Not available for shipping or delivery from Target (maybe Instacart).
  • I don't know if this deal is good in-store, off-the-shelf. If you do, let me know in comments.
Being a cat, an obligate carnivore, I won't eat these. Plant based patties can't fool me! But my manservant's wife does. Their opinion of the product:
  • Not a health food. If you compare it to a cooked 93% lean burger patty, it is higher in calories, saturated fat, and sodium. It has less protein, and is ultraprocessed with lots of ingredients I can't pronounce.
  • It indeed cooks just like a burger, as advertised. My manservant has cooked them sous vide, reformed them into double-size burgers, broiled, and pan-fried them. All cooking methods he has tried work alongside their beef equivalents.
  • It doesn't taste exactly like a burger, but it isn't bad. My manservant prefers beef burger, but his wife is a vegetarian.
  • They are useful to have around if you have guests that are vegetarian/vegan - it's easy to grill one of these up for them while everyone else eats real food.
  • My manservant likes having them in the freezer so he can have a beef burger alongside his wife for dinner (he does the cooking).
  • They can keep in the freezer a very long time.
  • I like having them around because if my manservant is eating beef, I get to have some beef.
  • To make an equivalent amount of cooked beef burgers, you would need about 2lb of beef (because beef loses more moisture when cooking). That's a $5.60/lb beef equivalent price, so about the same price as a lean beef burger with this deal. These plant burgers are definitely more expensive than a more fatty beef burger.
Other Impossible frozen products are also 20% off with the coupon. I have no experience with anything other than the burgers:https://www.target.com/p/impossib...A-82539838

The impossible burger is genetically modified, and definitely not organic. This means it is modified to withstand being sprayed with glyphosate to kill the weeds without killing the plants.

Glyphosate leads to neuronal death due to autophagy, necrosis, or apoptosis, as well as the appearance of behavioral and motor disorders. It is known to be able to pass through the blood brain barrier. All these things can also predispose you to Alzheimers and Parkinsons. Wonder why there is a dimentia epidemic? Add low testosterone, infertility, and to the list.

Countries that hace banned glyphosate:

Argentina; Australia (in some states); Belgium; Bermuda; Bahrain; Barbados; Brazil; Canada (8 out of 10 provinces); Colombia; Costa Rica; Czech Republic; Denmark; El Salvador; Fiji; France; Germany; India; Italy; Luxembourg; Malta; Netherlands; Oman; Qatar; St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Saudi Arabia; Portugal; Scotland; Slovenia; Spain; Sri Lanka; Thailand; Vietnam; Austria.

I'll take my chances with the red meat... LOL

I've had bowel cancer. Trust me, you're taking the wrong chances. If I live long enough to have dementia I'll be happy

I suppose it was inevitable that if you post a vegan product, you end up down this rabbit hole.

Neither the burger nor this are particularly healthy. Want healthy? Make a nice clean salad with fresh ingredients and some lean protein.

If you want a healthier vegan burger, they exist, but this ain't it. You can make your own, or buy something like Boca Original (almost fat-free), or Dr. Praeger (better ingredients).

This burger's claim is that it tastes better and cooks up like real beef. Both of those claims, according to my manservant and his wife are true. She prefers Impossible to Beyond Meat, Boca, Morningstar, and Dr. Praeger. (Beyond is just as unhealthy)

True, if the animal was fed with garbage, medications, etc., then the meat was "preserved" with carbon monoxide to stay red for weeks on the store fridge shelves. Grasfed beef actually has anti-carcinogenic properties. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/...MC8909876/
