Upgraded to the New Fire HD 10 tablet by taking advantage of a trade-in offer with my old 2017 Fire 10 tablet. After the trade-in, I received a $20 gift card and an additional 20% discount, bringing my total cost down to $61.69 after Ohio taxes.

Even with that, it's still quite buggy and very laggy compared to the Walmart ONN equivalent.

Amazon is getting better at locking down their ecosystem.

We're not getting Amazon tablets anymore. Will switch to either Samsung, Lenovo, or Walmart.
3gb RAM
Lots of people saying ONN tablets are better, but keep in mind that they only have Widevine L3, meaning Netflix and some other streaming services won't go above 480p

this Amazon tablet has Widevine L1 which means 1080p streaming.

any good use case for this?
i can't in good faith tell anyone to buy these. its just ALL ADS and slow as all hell, and even worse. its so locked down you cant get rid of anything you dont want on it. its a paper weight. the walmart ONN version is better just because of the OS it runs. FireOS is just such utter trash

I am debating between this Amazon tablet and Walmart onn. 10.4" Tablet Pro, (2023 Model) which has exact same specs, just curious why you think Onn is better. Primarily I am looking for something faster than the one I got couple of weeks back from Metro by t-mobile deal, boy!!! that was slow like hell. Will Onn will be any faster than Fire tablet? alternatively, can you suggest something around this price range. TIA

Guess it only works for some people and some specific trade-ins. I tried multiple accounts and it won't let me for my 2017 fire 10.

the Samsung tab a9 plus is a much better deal. It has 128 GB of storage, more ram and Android and no ads to deal with.

I got a amazon fire kids tablet 10 a while back and even if I had gotten it for free I wouldnt be able to recommend it.

Even though it allows the use of SD cards to expand storage, it only allows some apps to use it thus severely limiting the amount of media you can download on it. And since I had gotten it to store media for long family flights (20+ hours), being limited was a huge issue. It also has connection issues with the SD cards so if you have any apps on the sd card there is a chance they wont show up when the tablet is woken up along with any of the media associated with them.

This was on top of the tablet being glacially slow... took ages to open a app and access the media that was already on downloaded to the tablet. The kind of slowness where you start to wonder if the tablet crashed or not and maybe you should restart it.

Overall, if you are looking to get a cheap tablet for your kids, I'd save that money and get a upgrade to one of the parents tablets and then pass down the oldest one. It'll probably work better and have more access to the majority of the apple or android eco systems you're already using.

It has Silk browser and NO YouTube. You can probably use the Silk browser to watch YouTube if you do not want to sideload Google Play Store.
Their AppStore is really bad, IMO. I tried looking for "YouTube" and there were so many knockoff apps.

There are YouTube reviews comparing both. I always do my research on YouTube.
