Eye doc here, do me a favor and just don't stare at the sun.

During the last eclipse rush, the market was loaded with gray-market/fake-certified glasses. The American Astronomical Society publishes a list of certified vendors and vetted retailers for eclipse glasses.

So the question for you is - is it worth risking your permanent vision quality to save $5 from some random Amazon 3rd-party seller? Personally, I'd stick with B&H.

Correcting, there's a misconception that eclipses are particularly harmful, as if the light is worse than regular sunlight. That's not the case, the issue is that people are more apt to look/stare.

Welding glass/helmet/goggles works as well.

Awesome deal for reputable ISO certified glasses. I actually purchased some from Ebay that claimed to be ISO certified but later received this email from Ebay. I requested a refund from the seller.

I wasn't sure about the name Daystar but I googled it and that's the most legit nerd company website I've seen in a decade. You can tell they're rocking HTML that was first saved in 1999. You can't fake that.

I wasn't going to care about this eclipse, but this post made me look it up and I saw that it's going to be on the birthday of my oldest toddler. Bought a 4 pack and the wife and I can look at the partial eclipse and remember the day.
Thanks!

My local science museum's gift shop sell the glasses at 2.5 per pair, I think it's good to support the community and buy real glasses from them.

This year there are kids who were born, raised, and started college entirely in an 8-planet solar system. Time we let Pluto enjoy it's Kuiper Belt buddies 😜

I'd only go with ones from NASA

I contacted American Paper Optics (who is on the list by AAS [aas.org]), because we have glasses that were received through the Girl Scouts that have a NASA emblem on them and were manufactured by American Paper Optics. American Paper Optics responded that they produced these glasses for NASA. So, I suppose technically they aren't "approved" by NASA as mentioned in the Forbes article, however they are distributed by NASA, and they are on the AAS list of safe solar viewing glasses.
