Darn good deal. Mine came out to $17.68 with added shipping and CA tax.

The 2nd generation Ubiquiti Networks Ethernet Surge Protector safeguards your outdoor non-PoE and PoE-based systems from voltage threats such as surges and electrostatic discharge events, which can render an entire network system inoperable. This protector is suitable for use with surveillance cameras, access points, and other Ethernet-equipped devices. Ubiquiti Networks has designed it with two surge-protected Ethernet ports that support Gigabit connection speeds. Furthermore, an external housing guards the Ethernet ports along with the surge protector from outdoor elements.

I buy a lot of these and this is the normal price. Nice that B&H offers free shipping over UI charging, but it's this price all day every day!

Same on the Ubiquiti site. Or is it just the shipping that's the deal maker?

I didn't check at Ubiquiti because I assumed they charge retail price, and since it is more than $12.50 on every other website (including used on eBay), I just assumed retail would be higher than $12.50. If $12.50 is the retail price why is everyone selling it for more than that? Very odd. I guess my bad for not checking the price on Ubiquiti. They do have a lot of stock issues, not sure if that applies to this product.

No idea how much Ubiquiti charges for shipping, so that might make B&H the better deal, especially if you get free shipping.

Does not protect from lightning strikes. Instead the circuit board inside of it just explodes and the strike continues down the ethernet cord and destroys all your networking gear anyway.

Ask me how I know....

So the idea is I need one of these for EVERY SINGLE OUTDOOR DEVICE? Seems outrageous. What is this actually protecting, lightning strike nearby that effects voltage to my switch, and makes its way on POE over to these devices?

What surge protector protects equipment from LIGHTNING strikes??? I suppose next you'll tell is it's no good in the event of a tornado either...

I mean lightning is a literal form of surge. So there's that issue with your statement. But I get it, lightning protection is different from surge protection, technically. Many people don't know this, and think adding one of these will protect their home equipment from damage from lightning, and are shocked to find out they will not. I now have my outdoor ethernet equipment wired to a sacrificial switch isolated with a fiber run to the rest of my gear.

The bigger issue here is the MOVs didn't fail, the poorly designed PCB did. The traces were too small and turned into usable links long before the MOVs failed. Hence why I don't recommend these. I had two online as required. Both had their pcb traces disintegrated.

I didn't loose any appliances. Mostly because I have two Siemens whole house surge protectors. And they did their job.
