Prop guards or other add ones will tip this over 250g and require you to have a remote id beacon on it during flight. Officially... - as of 3/16/24.
Can anyone with experience comment on the quality of this vs. similar price competition? Looking to find a small drone to start out with aerial photo and video.
Sounds like a mini model like this doesn't need to be registered or need an FAA license?

REI caught on and pulled it (the coupon was not supposed to work on these during their sale)

I remember loving RC stuff when I was little, so I hope I find this to be a fun time!

If asked by LE, you *must* be able to provide proof that you have passed this exam (it is free and reasonably common sense). I don't know how bad the fines are if you don't, but given that it's a federal thing, I also know I don't want to mess around there.
You also need to ensure that any flights are allowed in the respective airspace when making them, of which there are various apps that use the FAA B4UFLY data.
Additionally, any drones over 250 grams weight MUST have additional ID and registration capabilities that this drone does not have. It is under 250g though, so unless you plan to add weight to it, that wont matter for it.
This is all based on a morning crash course with Google today though, so I am *not* experienced in this. If someone else chimes in with conflicting information, they very likely know more than me.
