I use these to drill holes in the bottom of ceramic plant pots for water drainage.

And yes, good advice to start cut at an angle and then just rotate until you have a scored circle and then go straight down. If you don't do this, it just jumps all over the place.

Edit: FWIW, I got a set of 15 for $10.94 in 2016. Fascinating, I know.

Here is a current set of 15 for $12.86:

Can probably find a cheaper set.

I've used these to drill holes in polished porcelain tiles.

Trick is to start at an angle and go very slow so the tip creates a little indentation that it will sit in and begin to cut.

No clue about the acrylic. Can't you just use a regular drill for that or other methods?

A regular hole saw will do better in acrylic, and if it's for small holes use a regular drill bit or a spade bit

Yes but use more water than you think you need , don't let it heat up too fast

Cheap and effective. I used this to drill tiles in my bathroom. Be sure to use plenty of water when drilling.

Acrylic melts pretty easily, You might get a gummy mess. I would use a acrylic specifiic bit/saw (which in many ways is very close to a metal drill bit/hole saw (very fined tooth to try to minimize chipping).
