imho, if you are going to pay that much for labor, buy better cameras than Reolink. ( Annke has some nice Hikvision OEM dual lens cameras )
if you are able and willing, for most typical American homes you can find a way to run the cables as a DIY project if you have at least one person to help you run the cables imho
Reolink cameras .. best to use Reolink NVRs for recording. Reolink cameras have had a number of compatibility issues .. that noted, you can use 3rd party VMS products ( like Blue Iris - tho reported issues with the iFrames )
Lorex NVRs .. typically are Dahua OEM .. best to pair with a Dahua OEM camera .. Reolink you'd have to try using ONVIF and see if they've done an OK job with that code ..
Yes, Reolink camera firmware have known issues with compatibility and standards.
Direct to disk is the way to go as per BI experienced users at ipcamtalk ..
iFrames are a big issue .. as well as the ability for the cameras to maintain customized settings ( Reolink likes to cheat in low light to maximize the quality of still objects in low light image capture at the expense of moving subjects .. you can search ipcamtalk for example on this .. as well as youtube videos )
If you can afford it, look for better quality sensors from Annke Dual Lens Hikvision OEM cameras .. they often run deals and you can get a better camera that meets specs / standards better.
effective Pixels on target .. expect shorter effective ID ranges with wide FOVs ..
( see the DORI section of the ipcamtalk cliff notes .. I had done a chart of DORI ID specs in past threads I posted here at SDs .. but I have not updated that info recently )
Normally to see and read license plates you need less pixels than to ID .. still reading license plates at night can be a real challenge and you need to custom tune the cameras just to read the plates ( due to reflection issues from the plates )
Cat 5e or Cat6 is fine as long as your get good quality cable .. that is solid copper 23 or 24 AWG and proper rated ( CMR iirc ) .. do not use cheap CCA cables, or thin wires ( you get more power loss )

Mounting a camera which has a wide FOV high is going to give you good bird's eye images of top of heads ..
if you are new to this, buy one good varifocal 4MP camera and start playing around with different possible positions on your home ..
indeed @Caleo .. those lith batteries really burn easily ..
If you are using quality cat5e / 6 cable with in-wall / riser rated .. ( CMR ) and do not put the cable on a fire source you should have very little risks due to low voltage ..

My home sits 10-15 feet away from a walking path thus my area of concern is that far away. My total frontage is maybe 150-200 feet - so it's much much wider than deep. If I install this high up on home (20 feet) and centered at my entrance - what would I expect to see. I'm thinking I will be looking past walking path and into the street. If I tilt this downward to capture more of the area of concern (including my entrance) - I won't be seeing further down right and left? Any thoughts? My home is nothing like what is shown in the pictures of the back yard in product description. Though I do have a back yard as well.
How I see adding cameras to my scenario is to add two to the front of home - one at left side of home pointing towards entrance and driveway - and the other on right side pointing at entrance - but further down the way to capture the length of my frontage. This scenario will account for the narrow depth of concern while extending the length of coverage for my frontage. I hope I explained this well enough.
Since you're quite insistent on asserting this theory of yours, do you have any sources for house fires being caused by PoE?

they're not hard to install, nor is running Cat5e but if Im going to get paid to do it, for someone else, I can see why they would bill out 2-3 hours at $200 an hour for the 'inconvenience' of coming to your house drilling 2 screws, and running a bunch of wire 'so the wife doesnt see it'

Reolink has a section of NVR recommended on the product page.

Guess it will depend on your city you are in. In general not much code to worry about on low voltage wiring.
When running the cable try to make the runs away from electrical lines, motors, .. use quality cables that are rated for in-wall .. if running outside use UV rated cable or paint the cable to withstand UV exposure .. if underground use underground rated cable ..

Inspections: inspected does not mean safe, code compliant, guaranteed, or correct. It doesn't even release the installer from liability. Also, no matter how hard it is to install something, it'll always be easier to inspect it (and it's not that hard to look in the attic).
Cable: PoE cable, just like your electrical wires, has a rating. I believe all PoE, PoE+, and PoE++ cables are temp rated for the attic. It does have a support/secure/mount schedule and may placement may require protection from damage. Also, can not be run with line voltage within the same conduit).
PoE: is low voltage, is grounded, and has built in safety protection (PoE uses handshakes (both ends talk to each other) and will shut down if there's an issue.)
I use them with Synology - and back them up with 128/256 mSd cards too. The Reolink app is actually better than the synology, but the synology allows me 24/7 recording.

Reolink .. they've done a lot of astroturfing here and in other forums, and cheat on their firmware, and other tactics to fool those new to security cameras .. so I am not a fan of theirs due to the way they fool new people, nor of those who do not give a fair showing of the low light faults.
I do like that Reolink has been making more variations of cameras, and that they use IP PoE .. so they are making good progress there
Personally I have more Dahua OEM cameras than HIkvision OEM cameras .. all meet good IP specs and work with 3rd party VMS like Blue Iris.
Annke just happens to sell some Hikvision OEM cameras at deals, thus my mention of them as we have seen some good deals for them.
The models you noted from Annke ( vc800 ) have smaller sensor than I like for a 8MP resolution :
Sony 1/2.5" Progressive Scan CMOS
Also they are dome cameras ( are you planning to use these indoors ? ) ...
Suggest reading some threads at ipcamtalk and looking at reviews there ..
best suggestion is to get ONE good 1/1.8" 4MP varifocal camera and a small PoE switch and length of good cat5e cable and start playing around .. until you do this, it is sort of like imagining driving a car without ever driving a car ..

Eventually they're going to release this in a better form factor, hopefully later this year. This form factor is just insane hanging off your average house lol
