Yes, apparently they had a keylogger on a recovery partition 1-2 years ago. There are videos on youtube about it. They take a week to get it to you and don't allow returns, unless it's defective.

No, there's a misunderstanding here.

The Raspberry Pi and these mini PCs generally serve different purposes.

It's only through the hard work of developers and tinkerers that they have any overlap at all.

For one, the Raspberry Pi runs an ARM processor, much like the one found in most Android phones and tablets. These mini PCs typically run x86 processors. In order for software to run natively on one or the other, it has to be ported. However, not everything has been ported and some software just can't run better than with the hardware it was designed for.

Secondly, their form factors and feature sets are different (again, despite some overlap).

On top of a generally smaller footprint, the Raspberry Pi offers a hardware interface called GPIO that allows you create inputs and outputs that are extremely low level. There's no overhead or supervisor on GPIO, meaning it's extremely easy to program and prototype with fast results that work reliably (the antithesis to this is USB, which always requires that the OS have a driver available and doesn't allow you to directly interface with whatever you have connected).

The third major factor that I can think of is power consumption. These mini PCs are catching up, but they are still very behind how little power the Raspberry Pi needs. Again, with the low level interfacing you can do with the Raspberry Pi, you can actually turn off components on the board that aren't needed. With these mini PCs, that just isn't a viable option.

Again, there's a lot of overlap depending on your use case, but they very much differ where there isn't overlap.

Not even terrible I guess if N100 is 30-36% faster but more expensive.

Is AcePC a US-based LLC attached to ACEMAGIC/whatever?

Seems almost low enough to POE+ power it. (as long as you don't run furmark and witcher at the same time) Prob won't

Still good enough.

What do people use these for? I'm intrigued to use it for a simple desktop but think it may not work all that well because it's a slow cpu and gpu

is this like a raspberry pi 4?

in term of performance... N5095 scores 4103 in CPU mark, where as RPI4 got 800, so it is 5 times faster.

it does use a bit more power, which could be an issue, but we are talking about 10W vs 25W system usage.

It's same cost as pi4 (and similar wattage) but 4x+ more powerful. Plus you get a fast nvme with vastly more endurance than sd card.
And the best part? It's just x86 so it'll run any Linux distribution you want with minimum problems.

I have an older nuc setup running home assistant on it. It's a home automation server that can integrate most things together so you can have a central hub for automations. For example I can have my vacuum cleaner run after all the lights have been turned off for a set period of time.

Genuine question: how is that different than IFTTT?
