The Quest 3 is objectively better in every way. But if you're not sold on the *idea* of VR, the cost of entry of the 3 is much higher than the 2. I got the 2 around Christmas 2020 and, after the initial honeymoon period wore off, stopped using it. I've used it maybe 5-10 hours in the past 2 years. So, if you just want to see if you *like* VR as a concept, get the Quest 2 while it's cheap as a point of entry. You can always pick up the 3 later when it goes on sale if the novelty hasn't worn off.

Great deal. They were going for $250 + $50 Quest credit or store gc during bf. Seems they've gone down in price.

I used this to dip my toe in vr it's definitely a cool device. I mostly don't use it however since any game that isn't stationary makes me dizzy. Just an fyi

I have not kept with the VR news. Are the new games for Meta Quest 3 backward compatible?
Or is the Quest 2 abandonware and stuck playing old games and will eventually stop working for lack of software/drivers...?

The Quest 3 of course also has AR functions so some things will only be developed for it and that feature and some developers might release Quest 3 specific graphical updates that can take advantage of the better power of the 3, but with many more Quest 2 headsets out there at this point it will be supported for a while
