The unofficial 2008 collapse quadrilogy, copied from Reddit:

Margin Call = The Bankers set off the 2008 collapse

The Big Short = The Short Sellers take their vengeance by publicly betting against the banks during the crisis

99 homes = The aftermath of the 2008 housing collapse forces Andrew Garfield, a regular family man, to financially support his family by going into a shady real estate foreclosure business.

Too Big To Fail = From HBO, giving the perspective of the government.

It's not MA (Lionsgate), but I'm kind of tempted anyway. I really like this movie and have some no-rush credits.

FYI this film appears frequently on Netflix, Prime Video, and Canopy (free). That said, this is a fantastic movie!

You can thank me for that. I waited forever for it to be on a streaming service and it didn't show up. Finally decided to purchase it and within a few weeks it started streaming.

That hasn't happened yet to 29th Street with Anthony Lapaglia and Danny Aiello which I also purchased.

I'm really bothered that VUDU is now called "Fandango at Home".

Strongly disagree. The Big Short is superficial both in its treatment and understanding of what happened. Margin Call understands and depicts the events that precipitated the financial crisis with much more depth and intelligence - and I think it's a better movie too.

You should read the book Big Short is based on. It also is a very accurate movie.

I was on Wall Street at the time. Big Short is the cartoon version of what happened, and somehow makes the hedge funds which delivered the hammer blow of the market panic the heroes (which does not exculpate others, but Christian Bale's character is the biggest villain of the story).

How is Christian Bale's character the villian? For blocking investors from leaving his investment?

The Big Short was nominted for six academy awards, Margin Call one. I stand by my statement Big Short > Margin Call.
